Bella had been turning and tossing all during the plane ride. She could read the worry off Edward's face. "I'll be fine." She assured him more than once. But he just kept on looking worried so she changed seats with Alice, being now on her own in an aisle. She could hear them talking. They thought she was asleep.

"Stop worrying, I see you and her together."

"I know."

"So?"

"It doesn't mean we're good."

"She's the one who should be worried. You left her."

"I know." He whispered barely audible.

There were so many questions she needed answered. Why did he not talk about this? Why did they not just changed some rules? Where did he went? What did he do? How did he feel? So many questions regarding his absence. But one question stood above the others: Was he going to leave her again? She shivered at this thought.

Bella took a step forward in Jacobs's direction and hugged him tight.

"I'm sorry." She muttered.

'I won't let this."

"I know. I don't want you to." She looked him straight in the eye. "I know you'll be there for me no matter what. You remind me of what's right and wrong. You're my best friend. I'll never leave you out of my life, Jake. No matter what I am or who I am." With tears in her eyes she retreaded and went back to Edward's side.

"See you when I see you." Jacob said and left in the forest.

Bella put on a stern face and turned to Edward. This was going to be hard, but it had to be done. "I love you. I never stopped loving you for a second. I know you were almost as hurt as I was. Maybe even more. But from now on we work on my rules, and I mean new rules. I want to regain my rust in you. But you'll have to work for it. I'm not doing this to punish you, I'm doing this to protect myself."

"I love you too, Bella, and … I understand." Was all he said. He was amazed, proud, and yet scared. Scared he'd lost her. Again."
