Annabeth sighed in relief as she stepped into the air-conditioned library. A stark difference from the blistering heat outside, where you find yourself at the mercy of the glaring Sun and reflective surfaces of glass buildings which stood far too tall.
Making her way to the indoor café, she rolled her shoulders, a lock in her muscles bothering her as she walked.
On the bright side, there were plenty of clean available tables and no queue. On the not so bright side, the person she was supposed to meet was nowhere in sight. Somehow she wasn't surprised but couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed. This wasn't the first time he had lacked punctuality, and most definitely not the last.
Her bag fit nicely between her chair's legs and she adjusted her table slightly, looking around for spiders, monsters or late sons of Poseidon.
When the person in question finally arrived fifteen minutes later (which is not that bad considering is past timings) the blonde already had a drink and book in hand. She hadn't noticed him coming and he smiled at the rare sight of a slightly more vulnerable Annabeth.
The wall of the café was glass so the sunlight made her silhouette appear all the more beautiful. Having let them down, her curls were gathered in front of her right shoulder, shining in the sunlight.
Long, slender and skilled fingers turned the pages of the book without bending them and a perfectly angled elbow stopped the book's spine from bending too much.
For the millionth time, he remembered how lucky he was to have her and how out of his league she truly is.
Smiling to himself, he pulled out a chair and sat across her.
"So, am I on time?" She rolled her eyes but stops halfway as time seems to freeze and she commits this moment to memory. The perfect way the fading sun lit up his form, how his black hair shone slightly and his bright green eyes shined as well. His smile could have lit up the entire world.
She leaned forward to give him a peck on the cheek. Unfortunately, Percy was having none of that modest stuff and turned his head with a grin, kissing her fully on the mouth.
She sat back down quickly with a blush. "Go get your drink and show me this 'Impossibly Difficult Math Homework that not even Daedalus could solve' that you wouldn't shut up about during last night's phone call?"
Like the good boyfriend he was, Percy ordered his drink and returned to hand her the ten questions written out on paper. By the time he was back with a milkshake in hand, she was already half done.
