Splash!

Blaine kicked up through the current of bubbles, his head breaking the surface a moment later. He couldn't hear anything over the sloshing water around him and the deafening roar of the crowd.

He climbed the pool ladder and pushed himself onto the floor, taking off his goggles and throwing them haphazardly to the side. He made his way over to Kurt, who joined him from the other side of the pool. His arm instinctively wrapped around his best friend's shoulders. He heard Kurt's sharp intake of breath as they both watched the overhead for their scores.

"Wow," Blaine breathed as he watched the slow-motion replay, how their bodies moved perfectly together. They could have been the same person.

Kurt's hand found his and squeezed in anticipation. "They have to give that a good score," he said. Blaine nodded, tightening his grip around his teammate's shoulders.

It took a few seconds for the judges to come to a verdict, but finally, the scores were there.

Kurt and Blaine held their breath.

A perfect ten.

Olympic gold.

The crowd went wild. Blaine vaguely registered their coach off to the side, yelling and jumping up and down, clipboard all but forgotten. But none of that mattered.

Kurt had grabbed him by the shoulders, shouting, "We did it!" with the widest smile, crinkles in the corner of his eye and eyes alight. Blaine stared back with an impossibly wide, toothy gin and for a second, they just looked, hands clasped between them and limbs shaking.

And then, Blaine leaned in for a kiss.

It only took a moment until Kurt got over the initial shock and pushed back sweetly. There was a collective murmur from the crowd, some cooing, others voicing their dissent.

"I - uh - Blaine?" Kurt said when he pulled away, smile ten times bigger, eyebrows knit adorably as if to say, 'why did you do that?'

"I love you," was all he said.

"No more hot one-night stands, huh?" Blaine asked playfully as they stumbled out of the stadium.

"Not if you want to keep your partner," Kurt retorted, but it was only teasing.

"Diving or...?"

Kurt laughed. "Both."

And in that moment, as they left to celebrate team USA's win, Blaine was caught with the realization that this was real. They won gold.

But they also won each other.
