For so long his world had been blackness and blankness, before all at once it became clear and light. Light and memory flooded into a previously insane mind as Simon gasped loudly and in so many ways came back to life.

Getting shakily to his feet Simon ignored his now too big clothes and instead stared down at his perfectly normal and blue free hands. This wasn't possible. This shouldn't be possible, how could he possibly be here and be alive?

A crash echoed from somewhere in the castle and Simon whirled around wildly, squinting into the hallways.

"H-hello?" He stuttered out, wishing desperately that his blurry vision would focus as his mind just had. "Is someone there?"

"Just me!" A voice sang out and Simon jumped at the shrillness of it. "Now just wait right there Simon!"

"How do you know my name?" Simon yelled back in alarm, the only people who knew him by that name were either long dead or long gone.

"Oh I know lots of things about you Simon!" The voice was closer now, clearer, and Simon frowned he knew that voice. "Or at least I used to." The voice paused and then laughed out again, "Do you still have that weird obsession with Cheers?"

"What, I don't—"Simon's head was spinning, something wasn't right, this wasn't right.

A blurry form floated into his line of sight and he took an involuntary step back.

"Listen," he burst out. "I don't know who you are or how—"

"That's just cuz you don't have your glasses on silly!" The voice rang out, he knew that voice.

A hand slammed into his face and Simon yelped as something metal and cold slid onto the bridge of his nose.

"There! Now you can see!"

Simon didn't say anything back instead he just stared in horror as the blob in front of him focused. It couldn't be, she wouldn't, she couldn't have, this wasn't right.

"B-Betty?" He stuttered out.

"Of course silly!" Betty sang, and it was his Betty's voice. His beautiful princess's voice, but it was buried in layers of madness and insanity. "I went and fixed you up just like I said I would!"

"But how, what, what happened to you?"

"Eh," Betty said nonchalantly, turning over in the air. "You get mixed with the Magic Man and blamo the next thing you know you're drowning in your own mind and have magical powers at your fingertips!"

"Magic!" Simon shrieked. "Betty that's dangerous you could…go…insane," the realization hit Simon like a freight train and he stumbled backwards. "No, no, no Betty, Betty you have to come back."

Betty blinked down at him, "Come back to where? I'm right here silly."

"No! That isn't what I meant!" Simon screamed. "I mean that this isn't who you are! It's the magic and we need to get you back to normal before you start to forget!"

Betty blinked down at him, "Why would I want to go back to being normal?"

"Because normal is safe, normal will keep you sane," Simon begged. "Please just let me help you."

He reached out a hand, but Betty shot back suddenly.

"No! No I like it this way!"

"No, no you don't! Please this isn't right, this isn't you," Simon pleaded and he felt tears come to his eyes. "Please Betty."

"No! I'm fine! You're the one who changed! You're the one who left first and well now I'm leaving!" She screamed and Simon winced as something behind her exploded into shards.

"Betty! Wait! Don't—"Simon watched in despair as she sped out the window and just like that he was alone.

He was alone, afraid and his heart was melting into pieces just like the ice around him.

I swear these two and their tragic backstories will be the death of me...
