The Last Of Us: Through the Abyss

For days we have been on the road,

We now come across another dark path ahead,

Exploring this long-deserted area,

Wreckages and abandoned useless objects were scattered everywhere,

We scavenge for supplies or anything that will help us along the way,

Keeping in mind that we didn't have time to dwell here for long.

I can feel my heart that we weren't alone,

The sounds of cries and clickers were nearby,

The situation we were in could not get any worse,

Carefully doing the best we can without making too much noise we advanced forward,

Moving from shadow to shadow,

Hiding behind fallen rubble or broken furniture,

Watching out for any sudden movement up ahead,

With my right hand holding on to the hilt of the pistol...

Then we hear something inhuman approaching within the abyss,

"Wait Ellie!"I warned her and she too immediately stopped in her tracks.

We had stumbled across a creature by pure accident,

It came out of nowhere into view,

It was as if it knew we were there somewhere,

Hunting and tracking us down recklessly without any sense of seeing what it was doing,

Though fortunately this monster was the same as the rest of them,

Clumsy, yet dangerous if it hears us and comes with it's gnashing teeth,

But we can easily outwit and make short work of it no problem,

I'm definitely not turning into one of those things,

Not today, tomorrow or even next week...Never.

Sneaking up behind the creepy adversary,

I signalled Ellie to go to the side of the clicker and to count to three,

3...2...1...NOW!

I braced myself and grabbed the monstrous creature using most of my strength to hold it in place,

Without further ado the clicker reacted aggressively and ear-piercingly screamed,

It struggled to move within my fuelled rage and power,

But my force against the creature was not unlimited,

However by the time it started to get out of my grip,

Ellie had managed to shoot it at a critical point,

I then released the clicker from my grasp and straight-away it fell motionless to the ground.

Wary to the amount of noise the fallen clicker had made,

Ellie and I hid behind a crumbling pillar,

Just in case any more of those things came to investigate,

But as time went on it became apparent nothing else was coming our way,

It was just a lone inhumane clicker,

But still better to be safe than sorry.

Finally we got out of the abyss unscathed,

We made another lucky escape,

But I'm not sure how long our fortune will last for,

We're just lucky to be alive as far as I know...

I sometimes question myself whether or not I will suddenly wake up from this terrible nightmare,

I dream of what my life would have been like if that incident never happened,

How different things would be...

But I have to stop thinking like this,

Otherwise it will have a negative impact and start eating away at me,

I have to accept that this was the full reality now...

Since there was nothing left here I turn to Ellie,

"Let's go." I say to her,

"Right." Ellie nodded in her reply, and we carried on our long journey to reach our destination.
