Summary: What Love Means according to Temperance Brennan

Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters from Bones. Fox, Kathy Reichs, and Hart Hansen have that pleasure. But if it were up to me, I would permanently borrow Booth and Hodgins. They are both very yummy. Don't you agree?

Pairing: Booth/Brennan in the abstract and non physical sense

Spoilers: Season 2, Aliens in a Spaceship

Love Means…Faith

"Anyone you want to say goodbye to?"

Temperance froze for just a few seconds at Jack's question before reaching out and taking the paper. As she turned and started to write, she couldn't help but think about what Jack had said about faith and Booth; and as she thought back to those moments, her hand began to move, voicing thoughts that she just didn't know how to articulate verbally.

Booth,

I know that you'll find us. I know it. I just don't know if when you do it'll be in time or not. If not, I need you to know that I don't blame you, for anything. So don't blame yourself. Just find the person that took us. Inside my book is a piece of what Jack thinks is a bumper sticker for a toll road. I know that you'll find out who did this from that. Take the time you'll need to get the facts right, and to makes sure that the science fits. I know that you and everyone at the lab will make Jack and I proud.

I remember you telling me that this job is your penance for killing the people the government sent you after. Don't add another person to your list when you find The Gravedigger. Don't do that in my name, or in Jack's. If you want to honor us, don't stop the job. I know that you have trouble handling Zack. Have patience. Very soon his will be even better than I am. Make sure that while he gets there he doesn't lose his human side. I need you to guide him now. Especially if you don't find us in time. And I need you to look after Angela. She's going to take this almost as hard as you will.

I guess that is all that's left to say. Jack and I are going to try to blow out the windshield with the airbag explosives. If the explosion doesn't turn our brains into jelly then we might be able to dig our way to the surface. I hope for both our sakes that we do.

It really is time now. So there's only one more thing left to say. You've been an amazing friend to me and I couldn't have asked for more. Thank you, for everything Booth.

Temperance "Bones" Brennan

Temperance knew that if she looked over the note that she had written she would have destroyed it. So, folding it up carefully she put the note in her pocket and finished rigging the charges that would hopefully blast them to freedom.

_____

Temperance could never remember a time where she had been more nervous than as she watched Jack touch the two ends of the electric wiring. Bracing herself for the shock wave that would hit her, Temperance finally let herself admit to something that she knew she would bury deeper than she currently was. She had faith in Booth. She had faith because she loved him. And she was ok with that. She was ok with the fact that she loved Booth because if there was one thing in this world that she would fight tooth and nail (what did that mean anyway?) for, it was the truth. And in what could be the last few seconds of her life she would admit the truth to herself. She had love for Booth. And because of that, she had faith.

And before she could think of anything else, she was surrounded in darkness...
