Torn snarled in frustration. Things were just not going right on that particular day. He warily climbed up the stairs and turned into a darkened room, the only light coming from a small window. The tattooed elf sighed heavily and walked right past the bed, not noticing the curled-up form there as he leaned on the windowsill. He rested his forehead against the glass, grateful for the coolness of it, then started as he heard a quiet voice. "Um...T-torn?" He grunted in reply. "....You...you ok?" He began to nod, then shook his head, no, as he straightened back up and walked around the room, gathering up several weapons.

More silence.

"...Torn?"

He sighed and looked to the form. It was Vin, how he had gotten there, he did not know.

"..What."

"..W-what are you doing?"

Torn paused.

"..Leaving."

Vin's eyes widened slightly. For some reason he didn't have his goggles on.

"B-but why??" He said with a slight edge of..was it worry in his voice? Or was it panic.

"Because things are falling apart. I can no longer...help."

He spat out the last word like it was a foul thing.

"But..y-you..you cant..just..leave.."

Torn turned and smirked slightly.

"Just watch me.."

And with that he strode out the door.

Vin stared after him.

"Torn? Torn...please...don't go.."

The tattooed elf paused halfway down the hallway.

Why shouldn't he leave..

He wasn't doing any good..

He finally turned and walked back to his room.

"Why."

Vin stared at him.

Because I need you..

Because I would miss you..

Because I love you...

"B-because..Things...would..would fall appart..If.. you left.."

Vin knew it wouldn't make any difference.

The older elf smirked slightly.

"You think I care.."

Vin stared up at him.

"Don't you?"

Torn shook his head coldly.

"Not anymore."

More silence.

"Dont..you..care about..the..the city?"

Don't you care about me?

Again, Torn shook his head.

Vin gave him a desperate look.

"Don't you love me.."

Oh god.

Did he just say that out loud?

Oh god.

He did.

The tattooed elf gave him a startled look.

"..What?"

And the words came unbidden again.

"..Don't you love me..."

...More silence.

Finally, Torn walked over to his bed and sat down on the edge of it.

"...I don't know."

Vin nodded slightly, numbly. He knew that the other elf could..never care about him. Not like that.

He started as he felt a gentle touch on his face and looked up to see Torn staring at him.

"...T-Torn?"

He never got to finish his sentence, as a pair of warm lips met his own in a hesitant kiss.

He barely repressed the urge to jump, or back away. He had never been kissed. Not like..this.

After a moment, the older elf pulled back and gave Vin a searching look.

"..I think I do.."

And for the first time in several months..

He smiled.
