Burt might not have approved of Blaine asking for his son's hand in marriage, due to their young age, but seeing those two up on the stairway where they first met was truly a wonderful sight to see. This is the exactly place where his son finally found happiness. Blaine helped his son through so much. Without Blaine, his son may still be sexually unaware of what his body could do when put into a situation with another male. As much as Burt dreaded giving his son "the Talk" at the time, he's pretty glad that his son had a friend who was willing to go to Burt directly for help. If not, how knows what might have happened.
Burt can still remember the time when Kurt first brought Blaine back to the house. It was shortly before the wedding. Kurt had said that he met someone at the coffee shop that he goes to after school. At the time, Burt accepted this as the reason, but as time went by, he later found out the truth. His son had gone to Dalton to not only spy on their glee club, but he also went looking for a safe place. During those times, Burt beat himself up over the fact that his son had been bullied for quite some time and no one had even told him about it.
That was the day that Burt had seen his son change. He started to hang out with Blaine more and more and spend less and less time with the glee club. Kurt started to have a really positive attitude most of the time. During the first few months after Kurt met Blaine, Kurt started to grow from a young boy into a grown man. As the two spend more and more time together, Burt watched as they slowly started to get to know each other more and more. There would be times when Kurt wouldn't even say anything to Blaine, but Blaine would automatically know what Kurt wanted. Kurt too knew just when Blaine needed something. It was as if they could silently communicate with each other.
Now, over two years since the two meet, Burt couldn't be happier with the way everything seemed to unfold. Kurt not only was able to get a job at , but he also managed to stay close net with Rachel. Then he went on to landing a spot at his dream school in the second semester. New York City was a perfect place for his son to live and Burt knew that he belongs there. And soon, Blaine too would join him. Even after not being a couple for a few months, they seemed to easily pick up the pieces where they had left off.
Burt of course will miss having Blaine around. While Burt was sick, Blaine would come over almost every day after school to check up on him. Whether Kurt asked him to or not, Blaine would always be there. Burt noticed how much Blaine started to see him as a father figure. He was glad that he could provide Blaine with someone to trust and look up to. Once again, he also observed as Blaine grew from a boy to a man.
Since Burt knew that he was in the clear, he was actually quite excited of the fact that sometime in the near future, his son would marry the man of his life. Back in his day, not that many people were supportive and it was much worse for those of the LGBT community to survive high school.
So much had happened within this time and yet, Burt wouldn't have changed any of it. There was a reason for these events to happen. Each event in life either teaches a lesson or helps someone grow stronger. Burt wasn't often emotional, but watching his son and his now soon to be son-in-law fall in love and now agree to be lifetime partners was too much for Burt to handle. He cried happy tears along with some of the girls.
As the event slowed to an end, Kurt and Blaine left hand in hand, with smiles of their faces. Nothing in the world could separate the two. Their hands were meant to be held in each other's hands, right where they belonged.
