This song has always reminded me of the Doctor, and just being a companion in general. Not specific to any character, but I suppose it could be any of them.
Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
Sometimes you'll wonder what would have happened if you'd done one single thing differently that day. If you hadn't been out of jam and taken two more minutes to eat your breakfast, would you still be here? If that car in the crosswalk had moved earlier? If you dropped your bag? Eventually, you'll realize that you were always meant to be here, however briefly. Time made sure of it.
So make the best of this test, and don't ask why
It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time

It's always brief. No matter what, all good things will end. And so you'll make the best of every moment. The bad and the good, you'll love them together because this is something so few get to experience. That mad man and his box.

For what it's worth it was worth all the while
You'll tuck away every moment for later reviewing, even if you don't realize it at the time. All the laughing and the hours in jail cells on other planets and your own. All the monsters and the magic, and most of all the running. And later, when the magic ends, you'll bring the memories out for remembrance that it was always worth it.
It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
