Lift
Jesse's POV
Leaning against the bonnet of my car, I waited outside Susannah's school. I had told her that I would pick her up because I had got to finish work early. I looked over at the gates as the students began pouring out.
In some ways I was glad that I was a ghost for 150 years. If I hadn't become a ghost, I wouldn't have met Susannah and I wouldn't have fallen in love with her. She was beautiful, one of those unique girls that people say that were hard to find. In my eyes she was my soulmate.
I had been afraid at first because Susannah deserved a young man who her parents could see, someone who could buy her dinner and people could see her with. I had been terrified because I had fallen in love with a human and I was dead which meant she might have not felt the same way. But she did. But then something had happened because of her and now I was alive. I was human again and I could finally take Susannah out and people could see I loved her and that she belonged with me.
I smiled when I saw Susannah walk out of the gates and walk towards me. She looked beautiful, but to me she always looked beautiful no matter what she was wearing. I hadn't noticed I had been staring at her for so long, she was now standing in front of me.
"Hey," she smiled. I stood up straight and leaned down and kissed her cheek. Her smile grew.
"Hello my love," I replied as she stood on her tiptoes and wrapped her arms around my neck. I pulled her against me and kissed her gently.
