Different Kinds of Love
Katara had been in relationships before, she'd been through heartbreak, betrayal and anger but she didn't regret a single one of them because it made her the woman she is today, and it brought her to her happy ever after.
Longing came first. Longing was gentle with her, patient with her, and he understood the pain she went through after the loss of a parent. But he hadn't let it get to him, he had been strong, he had been her pillar of support. Longing had treated Katara like a princess, he had loved her more than anything, more than she could handle. She left him broken hearted after a year of being together, her young twelve year old heart being unable to grasp the concept of love.
Then came Freedom. She had felt special when she was with him, blissful even. Freedom had showed her that things were not restricted to how it may seem, that some things were really worth fighting for, loosing your life for. Freedom hasn't been perfect, he had betrayed her trust a few times, but he had made it up to her in the end. However, merely six months into their relationship, he was enlisted to help fight the war, and died in the battlefield three weeks after.
A few weeks after Freedom died, she met Flight. Flight had been what got her through the death of Freedom, he had shown her how to not let things weigh her down, her had shown her how to fly. He made her believe in herself and made her see everything in a happier way. But sadly their relationship didn't last very long, half a year later they realized they didn't feel anything more than what friends did for each other and broke up.
Passion came next. Their love had been like wild fire. He had shown her things she never knew, opened her naive eyes that the world wasn't full of sunshine and roses and yet still protected her, he had made her strong. Passion was a lot like Longing, and yet different in so many ways. He had lost his mother too, but he had been no prince about it, his heart had harden but she still loved him all the same. They had come from two opposite worlds, making their love dangerous. And she loved it, it made her feel exhilarated, it made her feel alive. But three years into the relationship the spark had disappeared, the feeling had vanished and they went their separate ways. Their love had been strong and so they remained friends, though neither felt the same about the other.
And then, finally, came her true love, Hope. When she had met hope she wasn't a naive or innocent little girl anymore, she had grown into a beautiful young woman of the mature age of eighteen. Their love was not perfect, but it was meant to be. Hope had been the perfect blend of Longing, Freedom, Flight and Passion. Hope was was different in his own way though. He was childish and playful and showed her that it was okay not be be okay sometimes, that it was okay to feel sad and angry, but ultimately he taught her forgiveness and friendship. He taught her to never give up and never loose faith, no matter how bad things may seem to get.
And thanks to him she finally realized, though she been through hardships, though she lost so much at such a young age, there was always a reason to be happy, always a reason to be hopeful. And she loved him for that.
This is kinda a Kataang fic, i didn't put in any names but it was implied that the last person was Aang. I'm more of a Zutara fan but I wanted to give a shot at this.
