Chapter 1
April 2009
When Courtney finally returned to the land of the living, the first thing she noticed, and had no choice but to notice, was the pounding in her skull.
What happened last night?
Where was she?
She climbed out of the bed; she walked into the bathroom and stared at herself in the mirror. Why couldn't she remember anything about last night? Did she really get that drunk?
She opened the makeup bag that was sitting on the bathroom counter and grabbed some Advil out of there. At least her headache would go away.
Courtney Matthews, what are you doing in a hotel like this, looking like that?, she thought to herself.
If only she know.
Suddenly her cell phone rang. She grabbed her phone that was on the table. She looked at the number and didn't know it, but it seem like she didn't know pretty much anything right now.
"Hello," she said.
"Courtney,"
The altered voice coming through the phone was completely unfamiliar to her, and yet, it struck a cord somewhere deep within her hazed memory. The words were simple, uncomplicated. She couldn't remember…but she knew that that voice, that person, whoever it was…she knew she needed to listen. The voice was quiet as it repeated it's simple instructions. "You know what needs to be done."
And somehow, she did.

Her memory was still pretty hazed, she knew her name, her husband's name and where she lived, but that is all.
She wanted to go home.
As she walked to the desk to pay for her bill, the clerk shakes her head. "Your bill has already paid,"
Courtney was shocked at what she just heard. "Was someone here with me last night?" she asked, afraid of the answer. She couldn't' be cheating on her husband, could she?"
Her husband.
She smiled as she thought about him. Why wasn't he here with her?"
"Nobody was here with you last night, miss. Your bill was paid before you got here, remember."
Courtney nodded. "Of course, I had a long night,"
She thanked the clerk and walked out of the hotel.

As soon as Courtney saw the sign, Port Charles, New York, she knew that she was finally home.
The taxi stopped and she got out of the car.
She was finally home.
She tried to find her keys, but realized that she didn't have them with her. She knocked on the door. The door opened and it wasn't her husband.
"You're not him."
The man smiled. "I can be whoever he is,"
Courtney shakes her head. "I'm looking for Jasper Jacks."
The man shakes his head. "I'm not him, but I have heard of him. You can find him at his hotel, the Metro Court"
Courtney nodded, and hurried away, wanting to get as far away from this man.

Jax was sitting in his office when Olivia knocked at his door. There is someone to see you; she says that she knows you."
Jax nodded. "Let her in."
Jasper's face as the woman walked into his room was pretty shocked. This can't be, he thought to himself. Courtney runs to his side. "I'm sorry, Jax about our argument."
"It can't be, "Jax said, as he stood up and walked over to her and touched her face. " You're alive.
"What are you talking about, Jax?" Courtney responded. "I have just been gone for a night."
"Jax, how do you feel about taking your wife out for dinner…." Carly said, but she stopped dead in tracks when she realizes who was talking to Jax.
"Co…u…r..t," Carly said, as she collapsed onto the floor.
Courtney looked at Jax with this confused look on her face.
"Why do you all look like you have seen a ghost?"
"Because you're supposed to be dead, Courtney."
To be continued.
