| The Knight has Fallen The rain drizzled long and slow, A man clad in armor stood poised, Ready to strike when the moment comes. He didn't have to fight, He could just sit back and watch, As he had done many times before. This battle was different, The enemy was not nameless faces, Men and Women he would never know. The ones on the other side of his gleaming sword, Were ones he had spent his childhood with. His mind told him, No man! This is wrong! How can you hurt those, Whom have done you no harm? Quiet! He commanded his conscience, That is not why I'm here. His tension increased as they approached, Why do I fight them? Are they not the same as I? A long, elegant hand rested on his shoulder, The knight turned to greet the reason why. You mustn't let your past cloud your future, An intoxicating voice said. Why must I fight Mistress? Why? Are they not same who I grew up with? Aren't they ones who always been there for me? The Knight pleaded with the voice of the reason. They are the reason you were left behind, The voice boomed. The Knight reluctantly submitted. He gallantly fought against those who were no enemy. The face of one stood out, Her pale face framed with blond caught his eye. Her eyes the color of ice bore deep into his soul, Gazing back his feet were rooted down He stood frozen in a memory, Unable to move his body And the Knight has fallen. |
