The 4 day old Apollo gripped his golden bow tightly in one hand, the other going over the edge of one of his arrows. He gazed down into the ravine, it held his greatest foe. He swore to himself, he would get revenge for what it did, how it hurt his mother. Apollo had been sitting there for hours, waiting for the perfect time to strike. To kill the beast within the ravine's cave.

He notched his arrow as he heard it's distinct hissing, it's feet scraping along as it walked out of the cave. Apollo drew the bowstring back, he breathed and let the arrow fly. Time seemed to slow as it got closer to the dragon, before Apollo could get another arrow from his quiver he was falling. A tail destroyed the ground beneath him, sending him tumbling into the ravine. Once he hit the bottom he saw the fog, low hanging fog clung to the bottom of the chasm, masking the movements of the great beast.

"If it isn't young Apollo" The Python hissed, "Have you come to slay me?" Apollo didn't answer and drew his bowstring back again. That arrow embedded itself into the body of Python, he howled in pain before swiping at Apollo, knocking him down. "Damn you!" It shouted before going to crush the young god. Apollo rolled and ran back, another arrow in his bow. The dragon raced forward with incredible speed. Apollo jumped back with fear before realising his mistake. Python's neck wrapped around him and squeezed tightly.

"I sense great suffering in your future Phoebus Apollo." The monster teased before tightening his grip. Apollo screamed in pain, he could feel his godly bones beginning to break, he felt like he was going to pop. Apollo wriggled and managed to break his arm free and stab Python. The dragon let Apollo go and reared back, howling with anger.

"I'll kill you!" He roared.

Apollo grit his teeth, "No." He drew his bow, jumping back. He was knocked to the side, losing his bow. The dragons sharp claws ripped through his peplos. Golden blood stained his clothes and dripped onto the ground. "I will not die here Python." He coughed and covered his mouth, Apollos hand was covered in Ichor.

The dragon laughed, "You've barely given me a scratch and here you are saying you'll kill me?" Apollo smiled and summoned his bow, the golden bow flew into his hand and he charged Python. He let loose multiple arrows, each finding their marks in the dragon's hide. Apollo slid underneath the dragon, letting more arrows fly. Finally he was knocked down again and Python leered down at him, his amber eyes glowing with hate. Apollo began to glow, his godly form showing. Python jumped back, and swiped at Apollo.

"It won't work, you forget. I'm a son of Gaea! I'm much more powerful than you could ever hope to be!" Apollo charged again and let one more arrow go, it went right between Python's eyes. The dragon stopped, his mouth open slightly, before slumping to the ground.

"You.. you really did it." The dragon laughed.

"I'm sorry." Apollo said kneeling down in front of Python, his hand resting on the beast's snout.

"No you're not. You enjoyed killing me. Don't forget what I told you Phoebus Apollo. Great… misery… I'll be- I'll get you." The dragon could barely speak and the light in its eyes was gone. Apollo pressed his forehead against the dragons before getting up, scratches from the dragons sharp scales stinging across his body. He went up to the cave that the Python called it's home, stumbling he ran his ichor covered hand around the entrance. The godly blood glowed and disappeared.

Apollo smiled slightly, his last bit of strength leaving him, "What to call you." He mumbled to himself, feeling the fates' presence. He looked back at Python, "Pythia" He whispered before limping off, beginning his journey to olympus.
