He was having a great time…
"Higher Daddy higher!" the high pitched laughter echoed inside his empty mind… emotionless… he could remember seeing over the houses at the other end of the park. The sky beckoning him upwards… the big hearty smile on his face… he loved it… It was the first time his father had taken him to the park. Mum came too. They took a nice stroll through the scenic route of their village. They had packed a picnic before they came. Smiles were all around as they entered the field just before the park gate. He and his father ran across the field to the park gate. He loved to run and race. The sun was beaming down and all was bright and colourful. The lush green grass caressed his bare ankles as he ran. They were laughing; a big hearty laughter filled the air. He darted through the gate and jumped on the swing set. He turned around to see his father panting, but he had a huge grin on his face.
"You're a quick one son!", he chuckled. And it was then that he saw pain in his father's eyes… at the time he was too young to notice. But now as he replayed it in his mind, he saw it. His father swallowed hard and a big grin shot across his face. After an hour in the park they decided to have a snack. So they lay out the picnic blanket and set out the food. It was fabulous. As they ate they watched the birds fly in the sky.
