A cute little fluffy drabble that's during early S2. Enjoy! :)
"Do you think we'll get married one day?" Joey looked at Dawson's face. There was something so strange about the idea. Even more strange was the idea of Dawson marrying somebody besides her. The idea that one day they'd be full fledged grown ups was terrifying, but she'd never admit it. Of course.
"What?" Dawson's surprise evident in his tone. They had been sitting in mutual comfortable silence, and laying underneath the moonlight near the docks. Her head resting on his arm, and his arm snuggling her closer to him. It felt like the epitome of peacefulness. It was like that utterly perfect scene during love movies. The one where makes everyone, whether they're happily single or not, pine for someone to call their own.
"You know, do you think we'll get married when we're older? When you think about getting married, do you think of marrying me?" There was something so innocent and genuine in her eyes that Dawson resisted the urge of pressing his lips hungrily to hers. Despite what people stereotyped, teenage boys did have self control. Well... at least, they had some self control.
He was going to laugh until he saw the sincerity in her eyes.
"You already know the answer, Joey."
"No, I don't or else I wouldn't have asked it." Her snarky tone made him want to press his lips to hers again. She wasn't even aware of how she made him feel inside. Her oblivion made her more appealing, and attractive. The fact that those snark lips belonged to him made him swell with a stronger longing for her lips... but once again, he resisted.
He took a deep breathe, before answering. The answer flowing from his heart and mind, before even he processed of what he was saying.
"Joey, you're the only woman for me," He turned to face her. Her eyes widened in a dazed and awed way. He laced his fingers in between hers. "I imagine you in the prettiest gown, white, lace and short sleeved, and walking down the aisle in it. Everyone sees how beautiful you are and they're envying you, but I get the satisfaction of know ing you're mine forever. The closer you get, the closer the tears fall down my face. And then I declare to everyone during that hour and a half how I married the most amazing, beautiful, intelligent and lovely woman in the world who has been my bestfriend for all of my life through my vows. And our kiss, it will be the kiss to put to rest all of the other kisses in history because I, Dawson Leery, got to marry the remarkable Joey Pott-..."
Before he could finish, she was on top of him kissing him passionately. His hands quickly became tangled into her long dark brown hair, but he broke away to look into her eyes. Her eyes had the sweetest gleam of happiness, and the smile on her face melted his heart. He hadn't seen her look so happy in such a long time. His pride strengthened at the knowledge that he caused such a reaction.
"Are you practicing for our wedding kiss?" His lips upturned in a goofy crooked smile. She laughed heartily, before shaking her head playfully. "You know, I'd talk about marrying you more if this was the reaction that I got."
"Dawson, just shut up and kiss me." That was one demand that he had no absolutely no objections to, and quickly, their lips were pressed together.
