Arthur smiled as he entered the Minister for Magic's office. "Hello, sir. You wanted to see me?"

Harold Minchum widely smiled. "Mr. Weasley. Arthur. It's so nice to see you." He stood up and put his hand out which Arthur genially shook.

"Why am I here?" He didn't think he did anything wrong, but one could never be too sure.

"Relax, relax. You're not in trouble. Ever since you joined the Ministry right out of Hogwarts, you've done fine work here. You should be proud of yourself."

Arthur flushed slightly, unused to such praise, at least outside of his wife. "I'm glad you've noticed. I've always valued having good work ethic. It's something I want to teach my children, and I believe in living how I want them to live."

"Well, you succeeded. I wanted you to come to my office because I would like to offer you a promotion."

Arthur's heart started beating faster. "Promotion?" He already had 3 sons, and he had just found out that Molly was expecting twins. A promotion would be tremendous help with it came to money.

"Yes, no one deserves it more than you. I want to make you ambassador of Britain. You'll be helping to build ties with magical communities in other countries. Your kind nature and friendly personality, as well as the fact the most people automatically trust you, makes you perfect for the job."

"Wow," Arthur breathed, still unable to process what he was being offered.

"You'll be travelling constantly. You'll be able to see many other countries as you help build ties with them. I'm sure you'll find it all fascinating."

Arthur lost some of his excitement. "Travelling? How much exactly would I be travelling?"

Minister Minchum tilted his head slightly. "Three weeks out of the month you won't be in Britain. Does that matter to you?"

Arthur looked at the floor. It was a great opportunity, and he probably wouldn't get one like it ever again. But, he couldn't do it. "Yes, it does. I'm a father of three with two more on the way. I can't be away from my family that much. The money would be great, but I can't make Molly practically a single mother. The money and the excitement isn't worth it if I don't know who my kids are, what their likes and dislikes are. They're more important to me than anything."

Minister Minchum nodded. "You're children are very lucky to have you as a father."

"I should go. Thank you for the opportunity, sir." He shook the Minister's hand one more time before leaving the office.

He knew some people would regret this kind of decision, but Arthur wasn't one of them. His family came before everything else.
