A/N:
I take no credit for anything other than the OC. Everything belongs to its rightfully owner etc. etc. The premise of this story is just a temple guard who appears to be more than meets the eye. I thought of it this morning at 0300 so forgive me for any errors and I hope I don't make the other characters sound OOC as I want them to stay as true to themselves as possible.
Chapter 1
"Skywalker!" a knight temple guard roared.
Fighting through a seemingly endless wave of clone troopers, the temple guard discarded her helmet that stifled her vision, revealing long platinum hair and pinkish-purple eyes, "Skywalker!"
"Aliceliese." Vader drawled.
Tearing off her burned robes that now only served to hamper her movement, Aliceliese now stood in nothing but her jedi under robes. "This attack on the temple ends here traitor." She declared.
"Oh?" Vader darkly chuckled. "What makes you think you can stop me?"
Lightsaber raised for the ready, Vader knew Aliceliese would be the greatest threat to the assault on the jedi temple. She was the only one who could match him in a duel and now with death radiating all around him. He could feel her power raising without end as they glared at one another.
"Aliceliese!" another temple guard appeared.
"Halt!" she ordered. "I will deal with the traitor. Your task is to find Master Cin Drallig and evacuate the jedi temple. We can no longer defend against must further against this assault, huh traitor?"
"So much passion. It's a shame that you are going to die here."
Ignoring the traitors comment, Aliceliese snapped to the temple guard who was frozen in place. "I gave you your order now go temple guard! The temple is lost, but we can still save the younglings."
Snapping to, the temple guard bowed, " As you say. May the force be with you."
Repeating the phrase and wishing for there success, Aliceliese turned to face the man whom she once respected. "I never expected you were so weak as to fall to the dark side skywalker. Such a pity."
"Weak." Vader growled. "I couldn't be stronger and with this newfound power. I am going to put down the jedi who are now a danger to the Republic and Galactic Peace."
"I see now that you are lost, not that I expected to be able to redeem you." Aliceliese spoke with finality. "The time for talk is over traitor and now I am going to show you what I learned under Master Fay."
"Unfortunately for you…" Vader interrupted. "You are going to die."
Ordering a gunship to shoot through the wall separating them from the outside air of Coruscant. Vader expected to see Aliceliese buried under rubble, but what he got instead was. "Did you take for a fool?"
One hand extended outwards, the rubble of the temple wall and the lasers from the gunship was frozen in the air simply by her mastery of the force. "That gunship can have this back."
With a flick of her wrist, everything flew towards the gunship and in a bright explosion of red. The gunship was gone, leaving no trace it had ever existed. "I didn't expect that would work anyways."
Discarding his cloak, Vader ordered that no clones were to interfere with his duel. "This is going to be our last duel Aliceliese. Better make it a good one as soon you'll be a corpse."
"Enough talk."
Shrugging with indifference, Vader raised his lightsaber and perfectly blocked her strike from the left. He was about to retaliate with a strike of his own only to suddenly feel weightless as he soon came to realize that she had quickly responded with a force push that sent him flying outside.
"Damn it."
Turning around mid-air, he called upon the force and after locking eyes with Aliceliese. He reached out and pulled her outside with him. "I'm not going to fall without taking you with me."
"I didn't expect you to." Aliceliese declared boldly unfazed.
Allowing herself to pulled out with him, she used the momentum of his force pull and with a small boost of speed through the force. She caught up to his free fall. "I hope you like falling."
"What?" Vader demanded before "Ugh!"
The wind was knocked out of him as she brought her boot down onto his abdomen. Having not seen this coming, he coughed up blood as he was sent hurtling downwards. "Damn you!"
Not one to be outdone, Vader reached through the force again and pulled Aliceliese down with him, right as his back broke through the temple roof. The pain meant nothing to him as the roof crumbled underneath the force as once he crashed into the temple courtyard below.
"Did you think that I hadn't actually expected this?" Aliceliese spoke again.
Unable to properly defend, her boot came crashing down onto his abdomen again, but this time it would be different. Grabbing ahold of her boot with his metallic hand, he had no intention of letting go as they came crashing down into the temple courtyard that was full of jedi and clones still fighting.
Elsewhere in the Jedi Temple
"Traitor!"
Cutting down another heavy jet trooper. Jedi Master Cin Drallig took a moment to catch his breath as he was finally given a moment of reprieve from the clone onslaughts. "Master Cin Drallig!"
"Temple guard?" Cin asked as one came running up to him. "What are you doing here?"
Dropping to a knee in front of the battle master, the temple guard lowered his head. "Master, we are unable to hold the jedi temple for much longer. Please order an evacuation of the younglings."
"Why are you coming to me for such a request?" Cin inquired. "What of the other council members?"
Cin had his suspensions, but he wouldn't act on them in such trying circumstances. "The other council members are dead Master Cin Drallig. Right now you are the highest ranking jedi in the temple."
"What?" Cin couldn't believe his ears. "All of them? Who is responsible for this?"
"The man responsible for there deaths is none other than the traitor Anakin Skywalker."
"Skywalker?" Cin repeated in disbelief. "I should have known. The blue markings on the clone armor identify them as soldiers of the 501st." dusting off his robes, he stood up. "Where is Skywalker now?"
"He is currently engaged with temple guard Aliceliese."
Clasping his hands behind his back, Cin spotted his padawan who probably just finished up with her batch of clones. "Serra, are you okay? No fatal injuries I assume."
"None master." Serra Keto greeted. "What about you?"
"Do not worry about me padawan." Cutting there reunion short, Cin returned to the matter at hand. "Temple guard, what is the present status of Skywalker and Aliceliese's engagement."
"The both of them are currently engaged in the temple courtyard."
That was… troubling to hear. The courtyard saw some of the heaviest fighting and if he knew the traitor as well as he thought he did. Then he wouldn't expect Skywalker to fight fairly and instead he would swarm her with just sheer clones and no one could block lasers from every direction.
"What is this talk of Aliceliese and Skywalker master?" Serra asked abruptly.
"Silence!" Cin ordered leaving no room for argument. "Temple guard, am I to assume that Aliceliese is the one responsible for this evaluation order?"
"That is correct master." The immediate reply was troubling for the battle master.
"Very well." Clipping his lightsaber to his belt, Cin began to move. "Order the evacuation of the jedi temple. Younglings take priority followed by padawans. Knights and Masters will cover them."
"As you command."
Standing up and wishing one another luck, the temple guard hastily left the room. Dozens of temple guards could be seen following the knight, but right now that didn't matter. Instead right now, he couldn't understand why Skywalker became a traitor and more importantly…
"Forgive me for speaking out of turn master, but why are we running away?" Serra asked.
Not stopping to give his padawan a reply, he merely motioned for her to keep up. "There is no shame in running away Serra and after the report I received. I am afraid that, running away is the only option."
"But-" Cin silenced her with one raised hand.
In his youth, he could understand her as the temple was there home, but now was not the time for sentimentality. Jedi were dying by the dozens and if there was any hope of the jedi's survival, then the abandonment of the jedi temple was a necessary sacrifice despite his… personal feelings.
"Right now Aliceliese, our most gifted jedi before Skywalker appeared is buying time for the evacuation Serra. If you truly wish to be of service to the jedi, then assist with the evacuation."
Leaving no room for discussion, he looked outside and the damage made his heart ache.
"As you wish master."
Wishing his padawan luck, Cin began running down the opposite direction towards the temple courtyard. He may not be of us in there battle, but the least he could do was cover Aliceliese from any stray blaster fire that was sure to be sent her way, by clone troopers.
Jedi Temple Courtyard
"Fire!" Vader roared.
Having grown tired of his battle with the woman before him, he wiped blood from his lip after she had backhanded him just moments earlier. "Kill the woman!" He declared.
"I don't think so." Aliceliese replied.
Deepening her connection to the force, her platinum hair began to glow and with a single flick of her wrist. The hundreds of blaster bolts were suspended in the air. "How?" Vader demanded.
"They can have these back." Aliceliese responded ignoring his demand for answers.
Flicking her wrist again, the blaster bolts were sent back to there owners killing them all. Now only a handful of jedi remained as witness' for there duel, but her little stunt didn't come without cost. Beads of sweat covered her forehead and now she dropped to one knee, struggling to breathe.
"I guess I'm not there yet, huh master fay?" Aliceliese murmured.
Vader was unfortunately the first to recover and with his lightsaber raised threateningly. He intended to finish her off before she became a threat to his empire. "It looks like I win." He declared confidently.
"Not unless we have anything to say about it."
The jedi who were witness to there duel immediately leapt into action after seeing one of there own fall to a knee. Her actions saved them from the clones and now it was there turn. "All of you are ants."
"We may be ants." One declared. "But at least we can stop you from killing her."
Regaining most of his strength as he bought time by talking to them. Vader ran his flesh hand through his hair and smirked with his lightsaber raised. "I'd love to see you try and stop me."
"Gladly." Another jedi replied.
Grinning in satisfaction, Vader prepared his self to strike them down, when instead. The seven jedi acted in unison and with out reached hands. Vader was sent flying out of the jedi temple and down the stairs that he had marched up earlier with the 501st legion, now covered with blast marks and craters.
"That is going to buy us some time." A padawan smiled.
Clapping hands with one another, Aliceliese couldn't help but allow a rare smile to grace her normally cold face as she took her duties as a temple guard seriously. "Thank you. All of you." She announced.
"It was the least we could do." The padawan smiled.
For just a moment the eight of them could ignore the distant sounds of blaster fire as they all earned a much need reprieve until, "Aliceliese." The voice of Jedi Master Cin Drallig called out.
"Master Cin Drallig." The eight padawans greeted.
Still unable to stand without assistance, Aliceliese was just silently pleased that one member of the high council was able to survive this mess. "It is good to see you are alright master." She greeted.
"Likewise." Cin began surveying the courtyard. "Where is Skywalker?"
None of the padawans looked up to take the credit so she spoke on there behalf. "The padawans working in unison pushed Skywalker back with a combined force push."
"Unison you say." Cin was impressed looking at the padawans. "If we weren't in the middle of a evacuation I would personally congratulate all of you."
Blushing in embarrassment after receiving such praise, Cin reached out through the force and he could sense the traitor rapidly drawing near. "Thank you as well Aliceliese for buying us time. I know that Master Fay would be proud of you and now you can leave the rest to me."
Sensing the masters intention, Aliceliese accepted his decision and stood up shakily. "I understand master and I wish you luck. Skywalker is no opponent you can take likely."
"I never do."
Using the help of a padawan named Bene and Whie, they helped Aliceliese move as they began making there way to the evacuation point. None of them said farewell to one another as they knew, he would become one with the force after death, but knowing this, didn't stop the tears from falling.
"It is alright to cry." Aliceliese soothed even though she looked little older than them.
In actuality though, she was a member of the same species as her master whose name and place of origin was lost to the pages of time. Extremely gifted with the force, she was blessed with the same immortality that her master was noted to have and though most of her past is shrouded in mystery.
Her actual age was 120, but no one needed to know that right now.
Meanwhile back at the Temple Courtyard
"Master." Vader repeated Cin Drallig's rank mockingly.
Sitting on his knees in mediation, Cin opened his eyes and looked at Vader with pity. "It is sad to see just how far you have fallen Skywalker. I knew accepting you into the order was a mistake."
"If it was such a mistake. Then why was I accepted old man."
Not rising to the young mans taunts, Cin's purpose was merely to buy time. "The only reason you were accepted was because the majority of the council viewed you as the chosen one."
"I already know that old fool." Vader mocked. "The chosen one who would bring balance right."
Setting his lightsaber down in front of him as he expected a battle, Cin closed his eyes in thought. "My peers were fools to believe you were chosen one Skywalker, but it's to late for regrets."
"If you don't see me as the chosen one. Then who is?"
Sensing the anger and frustration bubbling inside of the boy, he opened his eyes again. "Oh? What is the matter Skywalker. I thought you were above learning anything from this old man."
"And I thought masters weren't allowed to show emotion." Vader countered.
Shrugging with indifference as he knew his end drew near. He allowed long thought lost emotions return after years of meditation. "Do you want to know who I view as the chosen one?" He smiled.
"I actually don't care." Vader said drawing his lightsaber.
Ignoring the boys weapon, Cin reached out and he could feel her power continuing to grow as the force flowed through her. Just like her master fay, she was favored by the will of the force.
"It is Aliceliese." Cin declared right as Vader began charging.
Stopping in his tracks, Vader looked at the him, like he was crazy. "What did you say?"
"It matters not if you believe or not Skywalker." Standing up, he summoned his lightsaber to his hand and activated its green blade. "She is the chosen one and you are just a flawed imitation in my eyes."
"I grow tired of your insults old man." Vader announced.
Silence soon fell over the two of them. Distant sounds of blaster fire could be heard in the distance, but none of that mattered to them. As right now they lived in the moment and with lightsabers posed to strike. The both of them struck out at the same time and in a second, it was all over.
"I guess… this is how it… ends."
Impaled on Vader's lightsaber, Cin Drallig dropped his and fell to his knees once Vader retracted his blade. The sneer would have been unwarranted as the last thing he saw, but as his soul left its body. He was glad to be surrounded by friends and family of old who have already passed on.
"You are home." They called out.
Smiling as his body regressed to that of a child, he looked at his parents whom he hadn't seen since he was first taken by the jedi. "I'm home." He cried as he ran towards them, passing on.
"What a waste." Vader declared with un-satisfaction.
Stepping over the old mans body. He swore that he would hunt Aliceliese hunt down to the ends of the galaxy to prove that he was superior. She may have escaped him today, but he was certain that so long as she lived. There paths were bound to cross again and until then, he knelt before his new master.
"It is done my master."
"Good, good." Sidious was pleased until. "The jedi aren't finished yet however. Survivors fled the temple and reports say a woman with silver hair was leading them." Vader could sense his masters displeasure.
"I shall deal with the survivors immediately."
"No, you will not." Sidious ordered. "I will allow the jedi to scurry around on my planet for a little longer and as for you lord vader. I have another mission for you in the Mustafar system. Do not fail me again."
"I wont fail you again my master." Vader replied weakly.
Turning away from his apprentice, Sidious could feel the power of that woman's force signature just radiating off the temples walls. "Make sure that you don't." He warned.
Standing up to leave, Vader stationed a company of clone troopers to watch the temple in case any survivors came back. Orders were to kill on sight until told otherwise and as he marched down the temple steps towards his awaiting starfighter. One thing kept repeating in his head.
You are just a flawed imitation.
You are just a flawed imitation.
You are just a flawed imitation.
Clenching his fist in anger, he crushed the last remaining statue of a jedi before jumping in. "I will show you whose a flawed imitation Cin Drallig and it will be by sending her to join you in death."
A/N:
Anyways that's that. I had wanted to write a story about a temple guard after seeing them in CW animated series, but I never had time to until now. Also as you can see, I didn't say Anakin wasn't the chosen one simply because some saw him in that light and others didn't. I don't know if this is going to be a one shot or not yet though as I wrote this as of this morning without much thought afterward.
