Happy valentine's day lovelies! enjoy your day, and if you don't have someone, love yourself and eat candy!
Chen sat on his bed, nibbling his pencil. He has to do this...but he doesn't know how.
With a groan of frustration, he threw the pencil at the wall.
He's never been in love before. He doesn't know how this kind of love works. Heck, he doubts if he even knows how love in general works.
You see, here's his big secret. He's foolishly, completely in love with Lloyd Garmadon...
Son of the warlord who continuously attacks the city.
You know, the kid everyone hates.
The one he publicly humiliated with a song.
Yeah. That kid.
He's wanted to apologize, but he never gets the guts to. What's he supposed to do, anyway? Just walk up, apologize, and then sweep him off his feet and tell him he loves him? That would never work.
Heck, he needs to start with an apology, but it's too late for that. Valentine's Day is tomorrow, and you better believe he's buying Lloyd candy and writing him a cheesy poem.
That's what you do, right?
Getting up, he grabs the pencil he threw and hops back on the bed.
He sees how shy lloyd is. No surprise, considering what he and countless others have done...but this is his personality. Lloyd is shy, small, and cute and just thinking about him is going to kill Chen if he doesn't figure out what to do.
"What would I do for Lloyd...what would I do without hesitation for him?" He mumbled to himself, trying to figure something out.
Gripping the pencil, he started to scribble a few words down. He WAS going to get this done, and be proud of it.
And maybe, just maybe, Lloyd would like it.
The next morning, Lloyd stretched slowly before getting up. Today was Valentine's Day.
Great.
He doesn't really like Valentine's Day...and it's not because he never got anything. It just seems like a dumb holiday to him...
So yeah. It's mostly because he doesn't have anyone to do anything cute or coupley with, and that sucks.
He at least knows his friends will buy him some junky candy. That's something to look forward to, he guesses.
Throwing on his same old green hoodie, he runs down he stairs and gives koko the chocolates he bought for her.
"I love you, Lloyd. Have a great day!" Koko kisses his cheek, and pushed him towards the door.
"Alright, I'm going." He grabbed his backpack off the hook, and shut the door behind him.
Walking down the street, he sees couples doing not so cheesy things...and then there's the people that take it over the top. He scrunches his nose and looks away in disgust, as he nears the bus stop.
The day passes, rather slowly. Nya got a few valentines from some of the jock squad, and she promptly ripped them and threw the pieces in the trash.
Kai received Quite a few...no surprise, really. All his friends got something.
He walks up to his locker, and opens it. He's shocked when a small envelope is laying on one of his books.
Nope. It's either from one of his friends, or it's a prank.
Yeah, that's happened before.
Looking around he halls, he placed the letter in his pocket. The day was over, so no one will be in the supply closet just yet.
He walked in, and shut the door behind him. His hands are shaking as he turns his phone flashlight on, and he prays to whatever might be out there that it isn't a prank. He'll be crushed.
He rips it open, and pulls out the paper. Unfolding it, his eyes scanned the first line.
"First things first, you deserve a huge apology. What I did wasn't and isn't excusable, but I hope this letter redeems me and not condemns me.
Anyway, I like you. A lot. And I don't care if you're the son of garmadon. You're kind, and sweet, and I don't think you'd hurt a fly.
And because I'm way too shy to tell you this face to face, I wrote you a letter. And I know it most likely sucks, but I had to tell you somehow. I get it if you don't feel the same way, but I had to let you know.
So basically, I think you're adorable and I love your personality. Happy valentine's day.
Trent Chen 3"
Lloyd's hand shook as he lowered the letter, and he tried to steady his breathing.
Someone likes him. Someone likes the son of garmadon.
And that someone is the head cheerleader.
He carefully folded the envelope, and placed it in his pocket. Standing up, he tried to take a deep breath and keep himself calm.
He knows that's Chen's handwriting. What he doesn't know is if this is a prank.
His gut is telling him it's not, but his anxiety is running a million miles an hour.
He opened the door, and stumbled out into the hallway. He knows his face is as red as a tomato, and he can't do anything about it.
Everyone's left the building, so he needs to get out before the janitors come in.
He's about to reach for the door handle when a voice makes him freeze.
"Lloyd!" Chen walks up, probably getting ready to go to cheer practice. He seems a little sheepish, with a small blush dusting his cheeks.
"Did you mean it?" Lloyd whispers. Chen nods, and thrusts a rose at him that he had behind his back.
They're both so awkward, and Chen is usually so bold but now he's so shy.
Lloyd's hand keeps shaking as he reaches for the flower, and Chen is stunned by the brilliant smile he received in return.
"Thanks." He whispers. Chen nods, and is startled when lloyd presses a small kiss to his cheek and runs off.
