The sky cracked as the wind howled. A young girl of nearly 16, ran across the road and into a bakery, seeking shelter from the Parisian storm.
"Hello maman! Hello papa!" She greeted as she put on an apron, walking into the kitchen where her parents were currently hard at work. Their faces lit up as their only child walked through the doors.
"Marinette!" They greeted back as they hugged her as if she was their literal saving grace.
"Can you man the counter for a while Mari? It's rush hour and we have a lot of special orders today." Her mom spoke in a soft but firm tone, implying there was no room for argument.
"No problem, maman." She went towards the counter as she saw a customer approaching. "What would you like to buy for your loved one, little one?" She asked the young boy, who was no older than 5-years-old, holding a single red rose, probably to give to his valentine.
"Nothing ma'am." The young boy replied much to Marinette's confusion. "I was just asked to hand the pretty young lady behind the counter a red rose."
"Who is it from?" She asked, taking the rose from his chubby hands and letting its sweet aroma surround her.
"From the guy over there?" The boy looked over with confusion as there was no one in sight from the direction he pointed.
"It's alright little one. Thank you for the rose." The boy smiled. "But you should get back to your maman before she gets worried." He nods at her before taking off, allowing her to take care of her next customer.
"Oh hey Luka! Came to buy something for your valentine?" Marinette asked as she noticed her teal-haired friend come to the counter.
"Yes. I would like to buy a heart-shaped red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting." He smiled thinking of his hopefully valentine's favourite cake.
"Ooh, a classic." She said as she searched for the cake box. "Would you like to write anything on it?"
"Yes."
She got out a piece of paper.
"Will you be my valentine, Marinette?"
"What colour frosting would you-" She froze as the words finally registered in her head. But before she was could reply though, someone shouted.
"No! You will not steal my valentine." A blond boy stood up, holding a bouquet of red roses, and angrily marched up towards the counter. "I was going to ask her!"
Marinette stood between the two teens as they argued why she should be each boy's valentine. Everyone stared at the event and even her parents came out to witness it. Marinette's head shook from left to right as she looked between the two boys, until she felt dizzy and fell faint, unbeknownst to the two boys still fighting for her love.
Outside, it still thundered and poured, not knowing of the incident happening behind the bakery's doors.
Sorry that it was short but it's supposed to be my english homework where we write a story with the title 'Life Is Full Of Unexpected Surprises' and has 350-450 words. I definitely went over the word limit though.Anyway, I hope you enjoyed it and the ending is whatever you want it to be. It's open to your own interpretation with whatever ship you prefer.Don't forget to Favourite, Follow and Review. And this has been an AngelFanfics productions.
