Impudence

For sick-atxxheart's Different Perspective Challenge

Tom Riddle hates Lily Evans Potter a good deal more than her halfblood spawn. Harry Potter is a dim-witted child who got lucky, but Lily Potter, the little red-head, mudblood wench had outsmarted him, beaten him at his own game. He wasn't dead, not yet, but she had come close, she had come so damn close.

The wizarding world hero-worships the Potter brat, but it is not the child who had beaten him, it is the child's impudent mother. She had sacrificed herself for her son, because she couldn't imagine a world without him. Touching, truly touching, love had kept the wicked Lord Voldemort at bay.

It infuriates him that he cannot make her pay for her ultimate crimes. He had done away with her, quick and clean. The prophecy and his tight schedule had left him no time to play with her. Death had beaten him again, taking away his chance at revenge. He wanted to make the girl suffer, suffer for proving him wrong.

The nerve, the impudent nerve

He doesn't have much faith in mothers in general, his own being such a disappointment. He has no respect for his own mother, and abhors those that fulfill their duties because his had not.

He understands now, why Severus loved her. She was bright, beautiful, everything others believed to be good in the world, and it made his toes curl and his stomach churn.

Damn, impudent woman

How could he be so careless? The spell she had used, he should have seen it coming. She was one of the fools, so ready and willing to leap into the clutches of death for the sake of another.

Stupid, damn impudent woman

She was the wizaring world's forgotten hero. She'd see, they'd all see.

Every mudblood, halfblood, and blood traitor would pay for the impudence of Lily Evans Potter.
