Don't Leave Me
Summary: Some random musings of Sam's when they are on their way to Mount Doom while Frodo is passed out.
Disclaimer: Tolkien's genius is not mine, because it is Tolkien's.
What have you gotten yourself into Sam Gamgee? You're on your way to Mount Doom. Why do you think they call it Mound "Doom" Sam! I sure didn't imagine it would be this bad.
Mr. Frodo, I remember when we first set out, even if you are too weak to. How long ago it seems. When you first caught me spying on you, I immediately wanted to go. I didn't care about danger. Why should I? As long as you were there, everything was fine. Nothing else mattered. We were just going off to go on a crazy adventure, like Mr. Bilbo did.
Now, Mr. Frodo, that time is long past. I've been with you the entire time. You couldn't leave me behind, not ever! Not your Sam. Mr. Frodo, without seeing you, helping you, I wouldn't have made it. The only reason I went was because of you. You're my master, and I love you.
Looking up ahead, I can see Mount Doom. That is where we are headed. We may face many more perils on the rest of our journey, but that doesn't matter to me, as long as you are here. We ARE going out to meet our doom, I am sure of it. But, Mr. Frodo sir, I wouldn't want it to end any other way.
I just wish you hadn't changed so much sir. You used to be so happy, so alive. That all ended with the burden of the ring. Why you, Mr. Frodo? Why not me? I don't care whether I die now, it seems inevitable. But I want you to make it through. That was my job, to see you safe back home to the Shire. The ring has caused so much pain, but why on you?
The only wish, the only dream I have is that you will survive. If I don't make it, please tell them all about our adventure Mr. Frodo. Don't leave out your Sam.
