"Are you cold?" Ikkaku asked softly, brushing the small braid away from Yumichika's face.

"I'm okay," Yumichika replied, snuggling deeper into his partner's arms. "I have you to keep me warm after all.

He heard Ikkaku chuckle and felt him rest his chin on the top of his head. They were sitting on one of the tiled roofs in the Squad 11 Barracks, in a more secluded area near the back, away from everyone else. A cool breeze blew through the night air around them, making Yumichika's hair dance around his head. He felt Ikkaku shudder slightly behind him, before tightening his arms around the smaller man.

"What about you? Are you cold?" Yumichika asked, tilting his head back so he could see the underside of Ikkaku's chin.

"Nope," he replied briskly, straightening his shoulders and starting determinedly off into the distance.

"Are you sure?" Yumichika pressed, a small smirk on his lips. "I mean, you don't have any hair to protect your head."

"Are you calling me bald?" Ikkaku growled, looking down at Yumichika with a nasty glint in his eye.

"And what if I am?" Yumichika said in a low voice, fighting to keep his smirk under control.

"Well, I'll just have to-ack!" Ikkaku didn't get a chance to finish his sentence because at that very moment, something small and pink collided with the back of his head.

"Hey Pachinko-Head! Hey Feathers! What are you guys doing up here?" Yachiru babbled happily, perched on top of Ikkaku's head.

"We're here for the same reason as everyone else, Lieutenant," Ikkaku grumbled. Yumichika had to look away to stop himself from laughing at the situation.

"But why are you all the way over here?" the little girl chirped, looking genuinely confused.

"Because they went some privacy." Yumichika glanced over his shoulder and saw their Captain standing on the roof a few feet behind them.

"Why would they want that?" Yachiru questioned, jumping from Ikkaku's head to the Captain's.

"Because-"

Yumichika didn't year any more of what the Captain was saying. Instead he felt the rush of wind moving at great speed round him. His surroundings were nothing but a blur, and the only thing he was sure of, was Ikkaku's strong arms around him. After a few minutes, the world stopped rushing and they came to a sudden stop.

They had stopped so quickly that Yumichika's momentum made him pitch forward, falling out of Ikkaku's arms and landing on the ground with a heavy thud. Grumbling to himself, he sat up rubbing a sore stop on his hip where it had hit the ground. Above him, he heard Ikkaku laughing loudly.

"Shut up," he growled, glaring up at the other man. "This is your fault!"

"At least I got us away from the Lieutenant," Ikkaku said, taking a deep breath to reign in his laughter.

Pouting, Yumichika looked away, his arms crossed over his chest. A few seconds later, the night sky was lit up with hundreds of shooting stars. His anger forgotten, Yumichika stared upwards in wonder. He felt Ikkaku sit on the ground beside him, and wrap an arm around his shoulders.

"It's so pretty," he said quietly.

"You're prettier," Ikkaku said softly.

"You're so cheesy," Yumichika said happily. "Just be glad that I love you."

"I am. And I love you too."
