Saying goodbye was never a happy thought. Personally, May hated it. She stood in front of the train bound to take her back to Xing. She watched her brother and Lan Fan board the near empty vessel, but again, she just stood on the station.

She had five minutes. Five more minutes until she had to leave Amestris.

He was supposed to be here, to say goodbye. She sat with Shao May, speaking to her in soft Xingnese.

"I was stupid to think he returned my feelings, wasn't I?" The panda, in a desperate attempt to comfort her forlorn mistress, cuddled up to May's hand. She sighed, and picked up Shao May. "I'm sorry for getting upset..." She scratched the panda's fur.

"Chang." Ling stuck his head out the widow of the train car. "Four more minutes okay?"

May nodded. "Tch..." She looked downward, knowing that he would not come. She kicked at a rock on the barren pavement. "Men..."

Though her impatience, she waited, the minutes until her departure dragging by like hours. She could feel tears well in her eyes as Ling called to her, saying that another minute was gone. She held back her tears. Leaving only meant more waiting, and she could wait years for the man she loved.

So, she boarded the train, sitting away from her brother and Lan Fan, staring out onto the empty platform.

"Two more minutes..." Her voice was soft, lost in her thoughts.

He wasn't coming. Would I ever see him again?

Away from everyone else, she let her tears fall. She missed him. She never even got to say goodbye.

The bell rang, signaling the last minute.

He didn't come.

Her tears fell faster.

He didn't come.

He didn't. He broke his promise. He lied to her.

Her tears felt hot on her face, reddening her checks and staining her eyes pink. A dazed glance was fixed on the clock, counting down the seconds, knowing she would never see him again.

"May!" She blinked once, seeing the, still skinny, form of Alphonse Elric sitting in a wheelchair outside her window. She blinked again.

"A-Al?" She reached out, grabbing his outstretched hand.

"I'm really sorry that I was late." He wiped the tears from her cheeks. "I'm going to miss you."

She smiled, blushing. "It's fine..." Her hand found his. "I-I'll miss you too."

The train started to move.

"..." She was at a loss for words as she inched forward, away from him. "I should stay-!"

He did something very odd.

Very odd, very out of character for himself.

'Something brother would do.' He thought to himself.

He interrupted her, cutting off her words by covering her mouth with his own.

"I'll come to you, in Xing."

Her hand slipped out of his as the train started to speed up.

"I'll get better, May, I promise! I'll be in Xing before you know it!"

She smiled, eyes filled with happy tears.

She wouldn't mind waiting.

Patience was always rewarded.

So, I wrote this in five minutes during class because I was having major Almei feels.
