Damn Ra, back at it again with another weird fanfic-
I'm sorry. Really.
Disclaimer: If I owned Young Justice, Wally would have returned by now, just sayin' xD
Hope you like itt.
Now, of all the people it could have been, it was Wally. I'm sure it would have been more endurable if it were Kaldur; I imagine he would be a good kid. Conner may have been slightly sulky, but he could be amused be static on a TV!
But no, it was Wally.
The dolt who could practically inhale a truck-full of food while somehow managing to frustrate the hell out of me for his own obnoxious amusement was turned into a toddler.
Let me explain how it happened.
. . .
Zatanna grumbled something under her breath, dropping her arms to her side in very evident annoyance. I quirked an eyebrow. "Spells aren't going too well, are they?"
She groaned.
I dug my teeth into my tongue to stop a laugh from escaping my traitorous lips. "What is it, this time?"
"Different civilian identities for missions.. Y'know, for when we can't be.. Well, Artemis Crock, for example." Zatanna frowned.
"Maybe you can change Wally into a mute. That would help loads." I nodded earnestly.
Wally, who had been peacefully playing video games with Robin until now, instantly jerked up and scowled. "Yeah, or she can go full out and make you disappear, Harpy."
I glared at him.
Robin cackled. "You two argue like an old couple.. Free entertainment for life."
In that moment, I was sure my face could give Wally's hair a run for its money. By the looks of the said boy, he wasn't too much better. The glares instantly fixed themselves on Robin, who only smirked in return.
"Guys, stop!" Zatanna cried. "I'm trying to do it!"
Without even a second of warning, the room blasted with the whitest light I have ever seen. It seared into my eyes like a hot camera flash, almost blinding me for a moment.
It was Kaldur's clear voice cut through yelps of my other teammates.
"Zatanna, where's Wally?"
. . .
Everyone was glancing hysterically around the room, looking in vain for the vanishing speedster. Soon, all eyes turned to Robin, who, after shooting up in his seat, pointed rather dramatically at a pile of cargo pants and a t-shirt and screeched.
But when everyone saw the clothes noticeably shift, I was reconsidering if Robin had really been dramatic or not.
Before any of us had even a chance to do anything, a mop of red suddenly emerged from below the heap of jeans. Robin screeched again. For someone who claimed to be doing hero work since the age of nine, he seemed more distraught than he ought, right now.
A loud cry followed the movement. Everyone gasped.
"Z-Zatanna?" My voice shook, though I could not peel my eyes away from the couch. Zatanna made no answer, clearly in more shock than I was at her own abilities.
A tear streaked, freckled face had turned to me, the huge green eyes troubled and scared. Baby Wally held out two chubby arms.
My eyes immediately darted towards the others, who didn't provide much comfort, only blank stares as I hesitantly proceeded to pick up the naked child. Instantly, he seemed happier, but when Wally's eyes landed on a certain Boy Wonder, the happiness immediately increased, a delighted shriek escaping his lips.
"Dick!" He giggled. "Dick!"
Everyone, other than the said Dick and I, gasped.
"He shouldn't know that word!" Zatanna looked beyond bewildered.
Robin's cheeks visibly warmed up. I smirked.
"Dick, me not wearing clothes!" Wally beamed gleefully as if the thought just occurred to him. My eyes widened.
"Robin, you can have the honor of dressing… Wally, while Zatanna figures out some way to fix this." Without waiting for an answer, I'd plopped the toddler into Robin's arms and promptly made my escape.
But little did I know, it would not be for long.
