Braig had a strange fascination. It wasn't a fetish, and it wasn't a scientific enthrallment either. Because of this, whenever he whipped out the object of his appeal he was graced with ridicule from his fellow scientists. That is until their eyes met the darkened tunnel of a gun, which they would then shut the hell up and quickly walk in the other direction.

Braig was obsessed with yo-yo's. He didn't exactly know why he could get lost for hours by continually doing tricks and mastering any skill he happened across in books. And when the firing range didn't help with his stress, Braig would stand in the garden transfixed with mastering all elements of the yo-yo, which he claimed helped him block out everything else and let him think.

He even sometimes took it out in the lab and just did the basics to help him concentrate, which drove the others positively mad with the constant whrr-whrr as the plastic object traveled up and down the string. Since Ansem the Wise did not allow any weapons in the lab the others were able to kick him out of the room without being threatened, but this tactic proved useless when Braig found out that a sharp thwack in the head by the infernal plastic part at the correct speed and distance gave the victim quite a headache after. Ansem couldn't disallow Braig's yo-yo either, since it was a toy, not technically a weapon, and it helped him use the full extent of his abilities.

And as Braig would play with his black-and-yellow yo-yo, sometimes he would think to himself- what was it about the yo-yo that left him in a total trance and helped him feel so relaxed? Was it the colors? Or maybe it was the appreciation of learning a new ability? Braig came to the conclusion, while doing the simple up-down and watching the plastic travel up the string by the slightest of tugs, that it was almost like training gravity. At the correct timing and angle, Braig could manipulate the gravity to work with him to make the yo-yo defy it by doing all manners of flips, tumbles, and swings. And of course, if you miscalculated you would be reprimanded by a good hit by the mistress Gravity (which could hurt quite a lot). It gave Braig the thrill of controlling a force that determined people's fate of death, or the chance they may survive.

Braig liked the idea of controlling people destines.

Maybe that explained his other fascination of guns.

up-down is the really simple, first trick you learn to use a yo-yo. Make it go up and down the string. XD I just don't know what the "technical" name is.

I also have an idea for a Marluxia drabble about his other. :3
