I Won't Say Sorry

In the hopes your teeth will rot out.

He was happy.

That's all that mattered now, right?

He had his friends, Riku, and Kairi, and Naminé, and Xion, and even Axel, when he wasn't being an ass.

And he had more.

He had Roxas.

Although, Roxas was currently pissed at him for something he said.

Half the time he couldn't figure out what he had said.

He would just say sorry, be extremely vague about what he was apologizing for, and Roxas would see that he was being sincere and forgive him immediately.

Now was, fortunately, not one of those times.

Yes, fortunately.

Why?

I love you.

Roxas had said a long time ago that their relationship was serious.

That Roxas would dump him the moment something better came along.

For awhile, he didn't really care.

He just wanted to date Roxas for the heck of it.

Because the blonde always seemed more withdrawn.

More sad.

More likely to jump off a building than date a completely happy and optimistic person like him.

… And because Riku said he wouldn't be able to get with Roxas if Roxas's life counted on it.

But…

Obviously things hadn't stayed that way.

Kairi had told him that he shouldn't have started to date Roxas.

She knew nothing good would come from it.

She thought Roxas was mean, emo, a bit scary, all bark and another's bite (Axel) and she just didn't like the guy's attitude all around.

He didn't care what she really thought of him, though.

She wasn't the one hugging him.

Naminé had said that it was a bad idea, too.

That Roxas was too closed up to everyone.

That he would fall in love with Roxas.

That it would only leave pain.

He didn't care what she thought, either.

She wasn't the one sending and receiving those late night-early morning-texts.

Xion thought they were just being stupid.

She thought you shouldn't date for such stupid reasons.

That someone was gonna get hurt.

That it would be me.

That she was gonna have to get a machete.

He knew she was right.

But she wasn't the one getting those kisses every day.

Even Axel told him to cut it out.

Axel knew Roxas.

Axel knew that Roxas was just messing around.

Axel knew how delicate the situation would become, because of both of our sensitivity.

Axel cared for Roxas, too.

And this will sound cruel.

But he didn't care.

Because he was the one hugging Roxas.

Talking to Roxas.

Kissing Roxas.

Loving Roxas.

Riku was the last straw though.

Riku understood, though, that's why they were best friends.

Riku told him Roxas would through a fit if his seriousness about the relationship was revealed.

Riku was right.

Roxas was definitely throwing something akin to a fit.

And he didn't care.

He wasn't going to say sorry this time.

It was the truth.

He was happy.

Roxas was happy.

It wasn't serious at first, but now it was.

And he couldn't be any happier.

So, when Roxas was glaring at him,

When Roxas was sneering at him,

When Roxas had thrown his stuff chocobo at his head,

Sora just smiled at him and said,

"I won't say sorry."

Roxas cried.

Sora held him.

Roxas screamed.

Sora smiled.

Roxas threw some more shit.

Sora hid underneath the bed.

Roxas ignored Sora for a week.

Sora snuck in through Roxas's window.

Roxas cried some more.

Sora laughed at the ridiculousness.

And then the day finally came.

"Don't say sorry."

Sora cried.

Roxas shared his stuffed chocobo.

Sora hugged him.

Roxas smiled.

Sora kissed him.

Roxas kissed back.

Sora wouldn't shut up.

Roxas threw ice cream.

And nothing changed.

Everything was the same.

Hugging Roxas.

Talking to Roxas.

Kissing Roxas.

It was all the same.

There was just one difference:

"I love you, too."

And Sora was happy with that.
