Hi, I'm Eliza. I've been friends with Delilah for 12 years but one of those years I didn't see her and I felt like I didn't even know her. This was when she took a gap year to go and see the world. Only when she came back she was in need of stitches, and had a cast on her arm. She never told me or anyone else what happened that year.
But recently I feel that I have come closer to solving the mystery of what happened. Let me explain...
I was casually sitting at my desk, reading over some notes when I heard a loud crashing noise coming from the next room.
"Ugh, not again!" I groaned as I pulled myself up from my chair and went into Delilah's room. It was pitch black but I felt for the light switch and turned the light on. I looked around.
"Delilah?" I called.
"Ow..." came a small whimper from underneath a large pile of books and papers.
I hurried over. This wasn't the worse that had happened. A lot worse had happened. I won't go into detail but it involved fires and footballs, that's all I'll say.
A hand emerged from underneath the pile and I grabbed it and pulled Delilah to her feet.
She gave herself a little shake and ruffled her hair, blinking in the light.
"Are you alright?" I said.
"Me? Oh yeah, I'm fine," she said distractedly, looking around as if she'd never been in this room in her life before.
I bent down and started to pick up the papers when a red leatherbound book caught my eye. I reached for it and picked it up. The book fell open in my hands and I read a line or two.
{"So how about I buy you a drink and we forget this whole conversation ever happened?" said the man, his hands on my waist.
"Tempting..." I said, stroking at the collar of his shirt. "But I'd rather-"}
The book was wrenched from my grasp. I looked up, alarmed. Delilah clutched the book to her chest. "It's mine!" she said, in an almost child-like voice.
"Delilah what the he-" I started to say.
"Ok fine!" Delilah said, suddenly sounding exasperated. "It's my diary from my gap year!"
I raised my eyebrows. "Woah. Ok."
"You can read if you want." Delilah threw the book at me.
"Uh... ok then." I said, looking at the book then at her curiously.
"God you're so nosy!" Delilah yelled, walking out of the room.
I rolled my eyes at her and sat down on a cardboard box to read this book, I'd been waiting so long to even know it existed.
So... there it is! Please review and let me know what you think of this and if I should continue it :) it really is appreciated
Love,
J xx
