a/n: Something extremely different than usual, but I really liked writing this style. Tell me what you think. ;-)
FORGET
You turn around the corner and you roll your eyes for the tenth time today. There's another life-size poster of your ex, Shane Gray.
He's the second most famous celebrity in the world now, ever since he split from Connect Three and created his own album. You inwardly laugh as you hear his new single blaring inside a store. He sounds like rubbish compared to Nate, who had also split from Connect Three, and you wonder how Shane is more popular.
You stop abruptly as a certain line rings through your ears.
"You are never gonna wipe this smile off my faceā¦"
You know it's aimed directly at you. He feels the same way. He sees your face everywhere he goes.
'Cause you're Mitchie Torres, the number one most famous celebrity in the world.
That little line was a reply to a line from your hit, Stop & Erase.
You laugh again. No one even knew that the song was written about him. Why? Because when you dated, you were a nobody.
And then he became a jerk again and dumped you.
Your payback? At your very first VMA performance, you gave a speech that was directed towards him, the two of you being the only ones who knew. After your speech, you sang your first hit, Don't Forget, which is still 1 on itunes to this day.
You kept glancing at him throughout the song, and at the very end, the part filled with electric guitar and secret hatred, you stared right at him, making him squirm awkwardly in his seat.
Then there was the interview afterwards.
"Miss Torres, who did you write the song about?"
You had smiled and flipped your hair. "I wrote it about and ex that I cared about very much. He broke up with me for no reason and became a real jerk. The soft part of the song symbolizes when I was heartbroken. The rock part lets him know that I've moved on but I still won't forget what we shared. And he knows who he is."
For a whole week everyone commented on what a horrible person your ex must have been. You secretly wished you had slipped his name out.
"May I please have your autograph?"
You look down at a young girl and smile. "Of course, sweetie. What's your name?"
"Natalie."
You sign the notebook she hands you and she happily walks away after thanking you.
As you start heading towards your car, a lone paparazzi follows you. He's one of the polite ones, so you smile and ask where all the others are.
"Over there," he says. "They're following Shane Gray and his girlfriend around. I decided to wait for you instead. I just don't think he's worth the time."
That makes two of us. You wish him a good day, smile for a picture, and get into your car.
As you are driving out of the parking lot, you see Shane and a tall blonde walking towards his car. The little girl you signed and autograph for stops him and you know she's asking him for his signature.
Your heart stops as he looks down at her, grabs the blonde's hand, and walks away laughing.
Leaving both you and the little girl in tears.
As you drive away, you know you'll never get back with him.
Because no matter what happened at camp, he was a jerk.
And he always would be.
