Sometimes he gets flashbacks
Of moments in the past
Of all his friends alive and lost
Of his granddaughter left somewhere in the stars
Of Jamie- oh if he could hear his old Doctor now!
Of Sarah-Jane and her companions
Of the pink-and-yellow wolf who was just so human
Of Miss Martha Jones (well, Mrs. Smith, now, he thinks)
Who fought and lost so much in that non-existent year
Of Donna Noble with the fiery slaps
(That sometimes stung worse than Jackie Tyler's)
Who was so much more complicated than she seemed
Of his Ponds who he misses a lot these days
With their banter against bunk beds and waiting oh-so-long
Of his wife, River Song, who was a mystery and still is
And who is never truly gone
And then he remembers Clara
Who knew his every regeneration
Sometimes he thinks he is alone
And maybe he is
Him, and the T.A.R.D.I.S
What's all that is found of his old home
But he never truly is
He has all those memories
And while he may not remember everything that ever was
He can remember the happy moments
The Christmas crackers being cracked
Meeting up with old friends he had not seen in a while
The happy glow of his companions' faces as they discovered the universe
Happiness is a good feeling
A good moment
A good memory
A fantastic companion
