Star Wars : Two Souls
Prologue
"Oh,my sweet baby...I will always love you,no matter what road you take,no matter what you do,you will always have a home. "
The tearful mother gave one more choked sob,her child peacefully asleep in her arms,unaware of the events transpiring around her,and most likely never to be aware of them. The man stood patiently in the doorway,giving the young woman a knowing look as she slowly stepped towards him,a look of understanding,patience,even a tinge of regret. It was never a pleasant thing to take a child away from it's mother like this,but alas,it had to be done. An untrained Force user was a danger,and a sitting duck to whatever dangers lie out in the universe for them,whether it be the dark side,or something unknown.
He was moderately tall,around 6'1,with close cropped brown hair,more like the hair of some small animal then what belonged on a human being. His tunic was a light color,a few shades darker,toned skin marred occasionally by what appeared to most as a burn scar. The dim light in the small house illuminated his pale blue eyes,soft orbs that stared at the sleeping infant,and the near heartbroken mother that reluctantly handed her over into his arms.
"She will be trained in the ways of the Force,well cared for. I doubt you'll ever see her again. Attachment is ...frowned upon in the Order. But,I promise she will know you did not give her up out of spite,but because you loved her. "
Even when he knew what he had to do,he felt the barest sorrow for the look in her eyes,the way she loved this child,how he knew she regretted ever agreeing to this.
All of this was suddenly forgetten as he felt himself turning around sharply,the feeling of another precense startling his senses,the gut wrenching feeling of being watched,even though he knew no one else was here,except for him,the cild,and the mother. Whatever it was,was gone just as quickly,though the smallest bit of the watching feeling lingered,promising to keep him on his toes.
"Are ...Are you sure nobody else is here? "
"No,I ..I live alone,just with her. "
"What of the child's father ..Is he here? "
"I am afraid her father is ...not in the picture .It was...not my best of nights when ...you get the point. She wasn't planned. "
"I could have sworn- ... "
"That someone else is watching you behind your back. You aren't alone in that,I feel it sometimes as well,but ...No matter how much I look around,she and I are the only ones here,it seems. "
"How odd ...I think ..I think it's best we be going now ...I truly apologize for not giving you more time,but I'm due to be back soon,and don't want to be late,especially not with her being with me. "
"I- ...I understand,Master Walthers..I mustn't keep be careful with my Melanie...I don't know what I would do if. '"
"Relax,she'll be just be fine. "
"I know ..I hope your journey is ..let me know if your around anytime,I would love to at least hear how she's doing. "
"Yes ma'am ...Goodbye. "
Little did he know,those would be some of the last words that he would ever get the chance to speak.
