Burglar

A Harry Potter Fanfiction

Yeah, it's been awhile. In truth, this is just because I am really pressed for an assignment. Here it is. My prompt was write about a scene in the first wizarding war using "What are you doing? It could be a burglar!""A burglar who rings the doorbell?"

Frank Longbottom gazed lovingly at his beautiful wife who was cradling their first born son. He watched as she gently brushed the baby's brown hair out of his blue eyes, and listened as the baby gurgled contentedly.

Walking over, Frank put one arm around Alice's shoulder and played with little baby Neville with the other. He grinned, loving that he had such a beautiful family.

After a while, Alice pulled away. Offering him a small smile, she said softly, "I need to put Nev to bed. I'll be right back." Frank nodded and planted a kiss on his son's forehead before watching his wife walk the baby upstairs to his nursery.

Content for the moment to just think, Frank sat down in the chair his wife had just vacated and gazed around the family room of the muggle first that they were staying in.

Voldemort was on the rise. He had gathered enough followers to be an actual threat, and he was set on his path. And for some reason that Frank didn't understand, the Longbottom's were a road block, and the Dark Lord wanted to clear the way. Frank knew that his family was in danger, and so he had moved them to the tiny muggle town and placed their home under the Fidelius Charm, guarded by one Secret Keeper.

He could only hope that that would be enough.

Becoming restless, he stood up and began pacing. Making his way into the dining room, he wants up to the old muggle radio that had been left behind by the previous owners. After fiddling with it for sometime, he finally pushed the right button and a slow Mozart song came on.

Humming to himself, Frank bowed to an invisible partner and began to waltz, carefully counting the steps in his head until a warm voice traces with amusement called out, "Sorry to interrupt, good sir, but may I have this dance?"

Frank turned to find Alice grinning at him. He bowed low to her. "It would be my honor, fair lady." Frank then took the hand of his giggling wife and lead her of on an elaborate waltz across the whole dining room. When the song finally ended, they were both out of breath and smiling from ear to ear.

Gathering his young wife in his arms, Frank planted a chaste kiss gently on her lips. "The dance was a great pleasure, my lady."

Gently taking both of his hands in hers, she smiled. "Indeed it was, Sir Knight."

Leading her back into the family room, Frank sat down on the couch and gestured for her to do the same. He pulled a small black box out of his pocket and watched her eyes go big. He grinned. "Happy birthday, love."

"Oh Frank..." Speechless, Alice lifted the lid and gazed down at the beautiful silver necklace nestled in the scarlet velvet.

Intricately made, the pendant was made of twisting silver spiral and rings to make it seem like a never-ending loop. With the middle, a small sapphire sat gleaming. "It's amazing, Frank. Thank you." She gave him a kiss on the cheek before turning and lifting her hair so that Frank could put it on her.

Just as Frank had finished with the clasp, a knock sounded at the door, and Frank moved to answer it. "Who could it be?" Alice wondered aloud.

Frank paused. "It's probably Dumbledore or someone come to wish you a happy birthday."

His hand was on the knob as she cried out, "What are you doing? It could be a burglar!"

Just then, the doorbell rang. "A burglar who rings the doorbell?"

With that, Frank opened the door. The last thing he saw was a pair of glittering black eyes.

"Crucio!"

So, how was that? Probably not my best work...

Oh well. Love y'all.
