I swallowed as Annabeth came wandering over to me, her beautiful face shining in the starlight. We sat and talked, my heart beating like hell, the Underworld, whatever. I finally managed to scrounge some courage from somewhere and take the little black box from my pocket. I turned to face her, my heart in my throat.

"A – Annie…" I stuttered, feeling more nauseous by the second. I opened the black box and took the silver band out, the sea blue stones shimmering in the moonlight.

"Would you… Annie, would you marry me?" I blurted out stupidly, my face flushing red.

Her head snapped round. Those beautiful grey eyes, the ones I had spent so long staring into, widened like an owl's. Ironic.

"Percy…" she whispered. My stomach did a backflip. She was going to say no. Oh, Zeus, she was gonna to say no.

"Yes." She said, so quietly I thought I had misheard her.

"Yes, yes, a thousand times yes!" she squealed, flinging her arms round my neck. Numb with shock, I slid the ring over her finger while she admired it. She caught my face in her hands and planted a kiss at me, her breathing shallow and ragged.

"Oh my GODS, Percy! It's beautiful!" She took my hand in hers and stared out over the lake, her cheeks cutely tinged pink. I don't know how long we sat like that but gods, it wasn't long enough.
