Since Carol and Doug are my favourite ER couple and one of my all time fav TV couple I decided to do a fanfic about them. The characters don't belong to me.
The story begins in the end of the episode "Of Past Regret and Future Fear" in season 4. In the beginning it's a summary of what happened in the end of that episode. So enjoy and please tell me what you think.
Carol and Doug went back for a shift in the ER after the dinner with Carol's mother and her new found friend. Carol was happy but chocked that her mother Helen was involved with someone. After a few hours Doug had finished his shift but Carol had to assist on a trauma before she could go. So Doug took a nap in an on call room. The patient was a medal age man who had been burned by chemicals. They were unable to save his life. Doug was woken up when Dr. Doyle entered the room
"Sorry" she said.
"It's ok I was just waiting for Carol, Do you know where she is?" he asked
"He past about half an hour ago" she replied
"Thanks" he said and went to see Carol
He walked in to the trauma room where she was signing charts
"I'll just take a minute" she said
"Take your time" he replied sitting down on a chair.
She looked upset
"Sad, huh... Are you okay?" Doug asked softly
"Yeah" she replied
"You're sure?" he inquired
"He kept asking for his daughter …"
She paused
"What if he wanted to see me and I never came"
"Your dad was probably in a coma, Carol"
"I've been living with my mum's version so long"
"And that is?" he asked
"Everything was all right then it was an accident."
"Maybe it's time you talked to your mum about it" he said
She nodded
"After she was gone my mum used to go on and on about how you can't depend on men"
He grinned
"And now she's head over heals and I'm the one holding back how messed up is that?" Carol said
"It keeps me on my toes" he replied
"I say I want time but the truth is that I'm scared to death of loosing you..." Carol said as she walks over to Doug.
"Don't be" he said kissing her forehead.
"I'm so sorry, Doug"
"Don't be" He wrapped his arms around her.
"I love you" she whispered
"I love you too" he whispered back
The doors open
"Oh, I'm sorry..." It was Mark
Doug let Carol go...
"Not it's okay" Carol said
"We are some guys who's going for a drink to night, you want to come Doug?" Mark asked
"No, not tonight I have plans with Carol maybe some other time?" Doug answered
"You go Doug, they asked me to stay for another patient" Carol said
"You're sure?"
"Yeah, now go, see you at home"
"A hope they pay your for it" Doug said with a laughter
He kissed her. This made her which she had never taken on her next patient.
Carol went to see her next patient Adam Meanders.
"Hey Mr Meanders I'm Carol I. hear you experience some abdominal pain?"
"Yes that correct" Mr Meanders said.
Carol checked his blood pressure checked his tummy and everything was normal.
"Mr. Meanders, everything seems normal it looks like you just have a stomach-ache" Carol said.
"Call me Adam. I know I'd just wanted to come in here to see you" Said Mr Meanders
He starts touching her arm.
Carol could feel how she was getting a stomach-ache herself
Carol took his arm away.
"I'd just want to know you be with you, that boyfriend of yours doesn't deserve you"
"That's it, I'm calling down psych" Carol said
I have the whole story worked out in my head. I'm just hung up one tiny detail. I know this chapter wasn't very funny but the drama is coming. So stay tuned ;-) please review.
