Tesla Coil
(As you will see, the spelling errors have been fixed. So... shove it!I can't helpthe fact that my typing skills were horrible during my early career... Ok, they still are, but anyway...)
I walked steadily towards the enemy base, not knowing what fate would bring me.
Beside me were five other G.I.'s all walking at the same pace.
We quietly approached the base, our forward cover, A Battle fortress,
with Guardians in it, would protect us from most anything.
Suddenly, we heard a roar over head, we stopped, then looked up to see somewhere around thirty Harriers heading towards the base.
While three were downed by the flack cannons and Flack Troopers, the remaining ones released a devastating barrage of missiles.
The explosion shook the ground, and I was temporarily deafened.
Then, a shout went up, and the Battle Fortress sped at full throttle towards the remaining base defenses.
We didn't know at the time, just what a mistake we had made.
The Battle fortress tore threw the concrete style wall, and with a huge burst of explosive rockets, the Construction yard and War Factory were eliminated (Remember, there was an Air Strike)
But then, as if from nowhere, base defenses just popped out of the ground.
I yelled that we were under fire.
The Battle fortress suddenly exploded in a mass of fire and flame.
I bunkered up and stationed my Heavy Mac. gun and blew automatic rounds into oncoming infantry.
I saw that they were trying to get an Engineer to a power plant to try and restart the generators, if that happened, we were almost certainly doomed.
I plowed down as many guys as I could to try to get a fix on him, but he finally got to the plant
All we could do now, was run. And I gave a shout about the power, they all ran almost before I did.
We trudged as fast as we could back towards the safe zone, if we could just reach the LZ, Nighthawks were on the way.
I heard the wiring of the generators, and suddenly the place came to life.
I was near the last to begin exiting, so I had to duck when the Sentry Guns began to fire with renewed vigor.
My best friend, George Hamer, was only five feet away from me, when he was incinerated by the Tesla Coil.
I cried out to him, but it was too late.
I was now out of range of everything except the Tesla Coil.
I knew I couldn't get out of range in time, so I just stood there, as it recharged, I heard the whir, and I knew what was coming.
The huge bulb lit up, and I saw the horror on my own face in the reflection as a huge beam of electric waves jumped and hit my body.
The electricity hit me like an oncoming tidal wave, I felt my skin heating, and my lungs bursting, and my heart melting.
I stood in that posture for maybe two seconds while I felt myself being electrocuted.
Then suddenly as the last part electricity wave left the bulb, my last essence of conciseness went away...
