Nothing's perfect
Disclaimer, I don't own Naruto or any of its characters.
"You know," Temari began, swatting the air. "If it weren't for these bugs, this place would be a perfect place to watch the sunset."
Shikamaru, trailing behind her, also started to wave his hand.
"Well nothing's perfect, is it?"
She flicked off a bug crawling on her shoulder. If Shino were, around, he wouldn't have approved of Temari's actions.
"No, nothing is."
Shikamaru smirked. "Don't worry. A little further ahead and there will be a lot less of these guys."
"Good."
When they had gotten through the worst, they sat in the field.
"Told you there were less bugs."
She nodded. "Except now the trees cover the sunset."
Shikamaru rolled his eyes. "You complain too much woman. I already told you life isn't perfect."
"Yeah I know."
"Not even love," he said as he laid down.
Temari chuckled. "That remark was a little out of the blue."
Shikamaru laughed. "Just a random, troublesome thought."
They were silent for a while.
Shikamaru closed his eyes. "I know love isn't perfect, but do you think people could really overcome all the hurdles and still stay in love?
Temari looked at him and he continued.
"I'm not just talking about things like getting into fights and arguments. What about if the two are just too physically far away from each other too often, or if that gap is age, or even if their personalities are completely different and opposite to one another. Could they still have a chance at love then?"
Temari looked up, trying to see the sunset.
"Well if the two really share strong feelings for each other, or somehow they knew that the other person was 'the one', then I guess they would try, and have that fighting chance."
She looked back at him. "Why do you ask?"
Shikamaru opened his eyes. "Just curious about your answer, that's all."
Temari smirked. "I'm sure. Those points you talked about sounded an awful lot like the two of us. Are trying to hint me about something, Nara?"
He gave her a look that said he knew something she didn't.
"Nah," he said with the slightest hint of sarcasm.
"Like I'd fall in love with a troublesome woman like you."
End.
A/N
