Author's Note: I will eventually update the Suburbian Struggles fic. Right now, however, I am just going to write short oneshots, just so that I am producing something. This idea came about as a result of the costume I wore for the release of HP 7.

Disclaimer: The only thing I own is the character I created. I own not the plot of Harry Potter, nor any of J.K. Rowling's past, present, or future characters.

The Other Potter

I am Harriet Potter. Yes, my last name is Potter. I am the twin of the famous boy-who-lived. Yeah, most of his story is complete fabrication. Voldemort wasn't after him that night. He was after me. I am much more of a threat than my brainless brother and Voldemort knew it. I have a huge scar in the shape of a snake on my lower stomach and upper back. Harry just has a little scratch on his head. Don't you think that if he was hit by a curse as powerful as Avada Kedavra cast by a wizard as dark and heartless as Voldemort he would have a rather large mark on him? He, theoretically, just survived a curse that blew our house to shreds. A scratch is not what he would have as a scar. I, on the other hand, the one who actually did survive the curse, have a reasonable sized scar. Not that I'm bitter or anything.

Dumbledore, however, didn't really like me, even when I was just a baby. I didn't listen to him and cried every time he came near me. I could just sense he was a crazy, manipulative, old coot. He realized that Harry would be easier to bend to his will than I would. So he hid me away before anyone else got there. Then he told everyone that I had died along with Mum and Dad and said that Harry was destined to defeat Voldemort, plus a lot of other crap. Then I was sent over to America and have lived here the past seventeen years.

I would actually like to meet my brother, now he doesn't think that you can always trust those is charge. After all, he is the only family I've got left. Plus, he seems to have realized that Dumbledore was playing him for a fool. Maybe if he's realized that, he and I could become better acquainted. If he starts writing that what Dumbledore did was for the good of all wizard-kind, though, I'll send him a cursed hat.

Hope you enjoyed the story. Please review if you have the time.
