Somehow it had turned into a conversation about movies, particularly ones about the nations during wartime; from the worldwide money problems going on, the whole world council had suddenly started talking about movies. Japan put up Grave of Fireflies as his representative, an incredibly depressing anime movie that once he stopped explaining caused even hard-hearted Germany to cry; America yelled about a thousand different ones, talking about Gone With the Wind the most ironically; England tried not to participate but once dragged in spoke of a few as well.
Austria was late coming in, having been busy playing his piano and not noticing the time; despite his hurry the would-be aristocrat kept his composure, stepping quickly but gracefully. He was dusting off his jacket when he walked into the room, not listening to the argument currently brewing until it suddenly stopped as he sat down; he looked around at the others silently.
"Hey what about Austria?" asked Spain a few seats away from him.
"What about me?" he asked raising an eyebrow.
"What would be a good movie for him?" said Lithuania.
Austria sighed, "I don't really like-"
"I know what his is!" yelled out America raising his hand despite his outburst; everyone including Austria himself looked at him as he grinned, "the Sound of Music of course!"
Austria paled; oh no, oh god no, not that...that.../thing/. He tried to voice his disagreement, despite not being too sure about the topic, but was quickly out-voiced by clamoring voices, all agreeing; he sunk into his chair. Ever since he had told America the story and the nation made a movie of it Austria had been unable to escape the horrible shadow of the Van Trapp family; it was as if that's all he contributed to the war.
"Austria loves that movie," blurted out America and everyone looked expectantly at the prim and proper nation; Austria cleared his throat, "I-"
"Of course he does," scoffed South Italy, "all of us love any movie we're shown in a positive light in."
"True, it's pretty rare after all," France said with a sigh.
The others continued talking and Austria kept trying to get heard as politely as possibly before slamming his hand on the table, "I do /not/ like that ridiculous movie!"
All was silent; he got up, furious, and left the room, unable to take this anymore. God knew they'd never return to their real topic, even with Germany there trying to restore order; Austria walked down the hall, rubbing his aching hand gently. His mind started to clear from the irritation he'd felt and a small blush fell over his face; had he really just yelled at them? Slammed his hand on a table? That wasn't like him at all; worse yet...
He sighed, "no its better this way..."
He put his hand in his pocket and felt something inside that made him just feel worse; it made him actually think about the movie. Looking around Austria saw no one; he slipped into the nearest room and closed the door before taking a breath. He pulled out the object, small enough to lie in his palm; he looked at it and smiled.
Before he could stop himself, the lyrics just slipped by; "Edelweiss, edelweiss/every morning you greet me/Small and white/Clean and bright/You look happy to meet me/Blossom of snow/May you bloom and grow/Bloom and grow forever/Edelweiss, edelweiss/Bless my homeland forever..."
He sighed a bit again then looked towards the door as he put away the flower, "they're all idiots..."

Veneziano: Sorry Roddy, I had to do it.
