Blood was nothing new to either of them. They both knew it so well, what it looked like, the smell of it and even the taste of it.
Today was no different. They did the job they were paid to do without mercy, told Chad to clean up the mess coating the streets in red before going back to the office where Alex sat all alone, always ready to pick up the phone at a moment's notice.
Of course Worick acted as a cheerful pervert as always, brushing a hand against Alex's arm as he greeted her with the usual grin before going to clean up.
But Nicklaus just stared at Alex for what seemed like hours as the time ticked by. All Alex could do in return was stare back at the deaf man that only found her food to be so-so.
"Y-Yes?" She asked in a soft tone of voice, her lips moving slowly but with a stutter as she straighten up right and crossed her graceful arms loosely across her barely concealed breasts.
Of course he didn't answer using his voice and just smirked a little, the corner of his lips tilting upwards. He always liked being around the woman even though she reminded him of Victoria. And her skills at sign language? Laughable, but even he could see that she tried her hardest to communicate to him.
Not answering her, he broke the dead silence by the sounds of his shoes stepping on the wood floor, breaking the distance between them.
"Nickolas?" She watched him with steady, strong eyes, not like the scared gaze she sometimes showed when she was remembering her former life.
He didn't answer and just reached out, gently patting her head, noting how her hair was as soft as always.
He cared for her.
Because why else would he cheer her up when even she didn't realize she needed it?
"AleX.." He murmured in his broken tones, his voice wavering slightly.
She didn't say anything and just glanced up at the taller male questionably, her lips parting slightly before her tongue poked out of her mouth, swiping against her dry bottom lip. As innocent as it had been for Alex, it wasn't at all innocent looking for him.
One of his arms circled a slim waist while the other stretched out, reaching for the female's cheek, cupping it with surprisingly gently touches.
He couldn't help it.
Touching her seemed like a strange thing to do, but somehow comfortable and easy to do.
Not muttering a word his thumb brushed against her moist bottom lip, gently touching the plump skin that seemed to beg silently to be touch as it quivered slightly underneath his thumb's rough skin.
Before he could realize what he was doing was crazy, insane in fact he covered her lips with his own, the texture of her lips nearly making him groan as the blood in his body seemed to boil with a passion he hadn't been feeling seconds ago.
Alex's response wasn't much different except for small gasp of surprise that slipped from her lips before it was muffled by the rougher lips against hers. Strangely, those lips weren't over baring, nor were they still.
Acting on per instinct, he pulled the human closer to him, so every single muscle was pressed against the soft skin of the clothed woman in his arms who was slowly responding to his touches by moving her lips along with Nickolas.
It was heavenly. It was almost magical even though they were in the office and she was in the hold of a being that had killed so many people in his lifetime.
But she found she didn't hate being in his arms. Rather, she felt safe, wanted, cared for and most of all cherished. Pulling slowly away from the kiss she opened her eyes and glanced up at him, her cheeks slightly rosy.
"T-That was-"
He held up a hand to stop her from speaking and just grinned devilishly, pulling her in for another kiss this one less gentle and rougher, clearly a way for him to show her who's side she should be on. And when he pulled away, the look on her face said it all.
She never would or could leave his side. Because she belonged by his side.
