Four years after the end of the Peacekeeper Wars, John, Aeryn and the others still were not free. Free to love, free to live, or free to be happy. They'd found each other but not peace. Another new foe, Kristof, had begun to hunt them like animals. He was even worse than Crias in many ways. He was more merciless and liked to inflict as much as pain as possible before death. He often let his enemies live just so he could spend the rest of their lives torturing them while he reveled in their screams. One day he had sent a message to Moya telling Aeryn that he had something she might want. She had laughed at him, saying he'd never have anything of hers. Unfortunately for her, she was wrong – he did. The next day a new message came – a hologram of a girl, about 16 or 17 cycles old. Her face was battered, bloody and her expression almost broken. Aeryn wept. Anyone knowing Aeryn knew this was unusual, especially for her. When John questioned her about her crying she only shook her head. The next day Aeryn disappeared off Moya in a transport shuttle. A hologram was left behind for John, begging him to understand but that Kristof had her sister, a sister she thought was long dead and that she had to save her.
