Disclaimer : I don't own Stargate SG-1.
Five time Jack was really happy he had a woman on his team.
1/ The time they got locked in the basement of an abandoned temple.
They had left their packs outside and had no check in scheduled for three days. The only way out was a series of pipe that used to take the used water out of the temple into the nearby river.
Carter may have been tall and well muscled but compared to the rest of them she was slender with tiny shoulders.
Who knows how long they would have been left stuck in there if not for her.
2/ That time they agreed not to talk about when Jack had a surge of juvenile impulse and decided to spy on the women's locker room.
Somehow he manage to drag Daniel and Teal'c with him. They didn't get to see anything because a female marines opened the door just as they were going to look through the keyhole.
Lt Johnson was a little puzzled by the presence of three men in a corridor that led to the women's locker room and only the women's locker room. Jack blurted out that they were looking for major Carter because it was almost dinner time.
He did not particularly want to think of what would have happened if they hadn't had a legitimate excuse.
Daniel did not talk to him for a week after that.
3/ When they met the natives of P2Z-534 who had been under frequent attack from raiders from the gate for the last decade.
They were a real paranoid bunch and more trigger happy than Jack at his worst. Okay they used bows and spears instead of guns, didn't change the fact that it didn't take much for them to shoot.
The presence of a woman on the team made SG-1 seems less threatening, or at least more likely to be a genuine group of traveller instead of bloodthirsty raiders. It slowed them down enough for Daniel to convince them they only wanted to trade.
It was nice to avoid firefight..
4/ That time the pentagon sent them an officer to do performance reviews of the SG-teams.
The guy was an old fart. Okay he must have been around Jack's age but he was pretty set in his ways. Scratch that, very set in his way. Frowned at the absence of rank insignia on the uniform of the SG-team, grumbled about the scientist who were too involved for his taste and went on a rant about how the "fairer sex" didn't belong on the field.
The first test was a ball paint game were random members of the teams were put up against a greater number of some of the colonel own men in the woods on the top of the mountain. By some stroke of luck the first one up was Carter. In ten minute flat she had shot down the four guys on the opposite team.
When Carter appeared spotless at the end of the tree line followed by the four airmen covered in paint cheer broke out from the crow.
The pentagon guy stood for a good minute with his jaw hanging open then looked like somebody had killed his dog. One of Janet's nurse took a picture. The medical personel were part of the exercises because they could be sent off world if wounded soldier had to receive immediate medical attention.
Every time Jack think back about that time he get what Daniel call his smug proud papa bear smile on his face.
5/ That time they switched gender and it took a month before they could figure how to change back.
Jack doesn't know what he was more grateful for : the way she explained away female underwear and monthly period without making fun of them too much or the way she rounded the three of them up to guide them through a work out in their new bodies.
He was pretty sure the only reason he had survived bra fastenings and the pad vs. tampon debate without being utterly traumatized was that Carter was family: close, familiar, comfortable, safe. It brought the embarrassment level down to somewhat tolerable.
But it had also been incredibly good to his morale to be able to do push ups again. And to sent SG-3 snicker in the infirmary. He blames the hormones.
Teaching Carter how to shave had been fun too.
