I feel like Kono keeps getting inadvertently screwed over by her teammates. I mean really, how hard would it have been for McGarrett or Danny to have at least said, "Oh by the way, Frank said hi in a sort of threatening way, maybe lock your door."

Disclaimer: I don't own Hawaii Five-0, the characters, etc.

Danny's the one to call him. Danny was the one who pulled her out of the water. Danny was the one who was sitting with her while Chin was pulling his hair out as he waited to hear the results of Malia's surgery.

Danny was also the one who shared his guilt.

"We should have known," his voice sounded far away. "We should have warned her, posted uniforms, something."

Steve doesn't say anything. Just tiredly runs a hand across his face as he pushes the fact that his mother is standing ten feet away from his mind. His mother who had supposedly been nothing but ash's spread to the wind.

"We couldn't have known," he says. Really it's for Danny's benefit. They should have known. They should have taken DeLano's threat a little more seriously. "If we jumped every time someone like Frank wants to 'say hi' none of us would ever leave our homes."

"We let her down…again," Danny says. "She shouldn't have been in the mess with that scumbag in the first place."

Steve can't argue with that. "I know."

"I'm going to stay with her."

"Good." Someone needs to. Steve glances at his mother, "I've got something pretty important to wrap up here. But let her know that I when I get back, we're going after that son of a bitch."

"Copy that."
