Ok, so I watched 'Welcome to Korea' yesterday and decided to rewrite it. This is the result. (It was probably way better in my head) The lyric-y bits are from 'A Little Opera Goes A Long Way' by Sky Sailing.
Disclaimer: I do not own M*A*S*H. If I did, this is what would have happened. I also do not own the song.
I'll capsize
This highrise
And weld a cable-car.
Then I'll drive down
To some southwestern town
And end up where you are.
"Trapper!" Trapper turned at the sound of his name. His plane was departing in ten minutes, and until now he'd resisted the urge to turn around and head straight back to camp. It had taken him what seemed like forever to convince himself it was for the best, but in that moment he felt his resolve beginning to crumble.
"Hawkeye?"
"I just wanted to say goodbye." Hawkeye made eye contact with his ex-bunkie. "And thank you." He paused. "For everything." He looked around, making sure there was no chance of any observers, before pressing his lips against Trapper's. "Abbysinia, Trap." Hawkeye turned and walked away. He didn't think he'd be able to take seeing Trapper leave.
He was even more despondent when he realised the Jeep was gone.
Hawkeye wasn't looking forward to the journey back to the 4077. By some miracle he, Radar and BJ had found another Jeep, but there was no chance of finding another Trapper John McIntyre. No chance in Hell (and Korea was pretty similar). He climbed into the passenger seat, but mentally he was on that plane with his lost love.
"Room for one more?" The three of them looked over to where the voice had come from, and Hawkeye felt his breath catch in his throat.
"Trap?"
"That's who I was last time I checked." Trapper smiled. "You didn't think you'd get rid of me that easily, did you?"
"What about Louise?"
"Screw her! I love you." It's hard to believe that three little words can have such an effect on somebody's life, until the right person says them to you.
"Get in, then."
"Quick, before that general realises this is his Jeep!" BJ added. "BJ Hunnicutt."
"Trapper McIntyre." The two shook hands.
"I'm not sure this is such a good idea..." Radar protested from the driver's seat.
"Just drive, Radar." Trapper responded, leaning back. The slightly panicked corporal did as he was told.
"I've only been in Korea half an hour and already I've stolen a Jeep and a doctor." BJ commented midway into the return journey.
"Nah. I stole Trapper, you just watched." Hawkeye turned in his seat. "And Trapper?"
"Yeah?"
"I love you too."
I'll reset
Your silhouette
And be your parasol.
So hold on to
Your fluorescent view,
And if you slip and fall
I will catch you.
