SWORDS AGAINST
SLINGS
A TALE OF REDWALL
By:SUP
I "Awww! Come on you can hit harder than that. If you ever want to become a warrior squirrell you have too hit through the target young Bernberrie and whirl the sling don't just throw it!" said Redwalls only fighting hedghog left, Pintor.
"And you Longears, or what ever your name is, Hares are supposed to thrust rapiers not drop them."
It was a beutifull afternoon the kind that sends shivers up your spine in a delightful way. Pintor was teaching his class of middle aged mammels on the lush green grass just outside of the woodlands. There was an assortment of animals there, Moles, Hares, Squirrells, Mice, and even some young Hedgehogs, though they tried to fight they just couldn't resist the sweet smell of honey in the nearby hives so most of them wandered off.
The Robbins chirrupped whenever a sling left the paw with the rock almost like the unintellagable creature were laughing. As did some now as a young Squirrell by the name of Nuttail who was only two weeks old let it fly with the sling into the forrest.
"Heh heh heh, Nuttail you couldn't even hit a dead Wildcat." teased Gatroth one of the funniest and friendly Badger's alive (though all Badgers are pretty nice) as he walked out of the front doors of Redwall Abbey for his fighting lesson.
"Tis killing a big an' fat Wildcat possibler?" asked Nuttail in his babyish accent.
"Of course tis possibler," mimmicked Gatroth as he leaned over closer to Nuttail while answering the young Squirrell's question. "I'll tell you what, if you want to see a dead Wildcat I'll get you one at the end of my class I'll bring it to your house so you can see it."
"WOW! Willy? If you can kill a big an' evil warrior Wildcat you muzt be a gweat warrior." exclaimed Nuttail's friend (and sister) Bushtail.
"Oh I wouldn't call me the big and strong warrior." said Gatroth but he couldn't hide his smile. "Bernberrie is." Though Badger's aren't as strong and as they used to be he was still strong but small. Bernberrie and Gatroth were best friends and they complimented each other like this alot.
After Gatroth's lesson was finnished, he and Bernberrie (who had waited for him) had a quick little conversation about how they were going to bring a dead Wildcat to Nuttail and Bushtail.
"How do we get a dead Wildcat to them with a stone in him or her?" was the obvious first question by Bernberrie with a hint of concern in his voice.
Gatroth gave a little laugh and said "We'll make one out of my Mother put a little bit of Skipper's Otter hair on her so she is golden and then add blood."
"Are you sure it will work?" asked Bernberrie.
"Almost positive." replied Gatroth.
