Axel hated Atlantica. It was a rather pointless world. Not only was it wet, but it had virtually no heartless to take his frustrations out on. He couldn't use his chakrams here and his fire was virtually useless. A flame will always refuse to ignite underwater, no matter how strong the magic behind it was. The ocean smothered him, covering him in the cool liquid element that he despised and extinguishing even the slightest of sparks.
He failed to see why Xemnas would be so idiotic as to send him to this world. The Superior had claimed it was because he was in need of two nobody's to moniter it, to watch out for the Keyblade master or the Heartless, or any other trouble that could possible brew in the depths of the ocean.
The place was in little peril. It was cheerful, with singing mermaids and happy sea creatures all getting along with each other in this joyous metropolis.
Demyx seemed to like it at least. Spinning and dancing with the local mermaids and merman flashing smiles and giddy laughs to anyone who dared pass by the happy merman. And honestly, Axel had never seen the younger nobody this happy before. He was generally happy, only straying to frightened or serious ever so often, but on this world he was most definitely at his happiest.
Demyx smiled at him, fleshy pink lips parting to reveal rows of pearly white teeth. Axel shook his head and hmphed even as a fierce blush broke out across his cheeks spreading down to his gills and swirling down his back to mesh with the deep red of his dorsal fin.
When they had first arrived, Demyx had laughed at his merman form, a hybrid of humanoid and clearfin lionfish. It just figured that he would be a lionfish. The poisonous, spiky finned predators suited him just as well as the dolphin suited Demyx.
His laughter was contagious, and he'd made friends with the King's daughter in no time, frolicking with dolphins, dancing, and singing with her and her pet flounder throughout the day until the young Princess had been called home. He waved at her vigorously and Axel laughed as he nearly caught his arm in some kelp.
He swam back to Axel, cheerful and giddy, dancing up to him to an invisible tune. His fingers were twitching as he hummed and Axel chuckled as he broke into a furious bought of air guitaring, executing a spectacular show of flips and spins and strange spiraling movements that almost looked painful. Even with a fin the boy shouldn't be that damn flexible.
He cocked a head at Axel, a piece of hair rebelling against the other strands and floating down to partially obscure his eyes. Axel almost rolled his eyes at the young merman, smirking at the older boy.
Demyx certainly was something. Afterall, only he could make this trip worthwhile.
