Chapter 1

Once in the land of Amestris, there was a girl with maroon hair strolling down a rural road. She was awfully tall, even for an adult. There were two, quite large strands of hair sticking out, and she wore mysterious, white mittens everywhere she went. Most of her teeth were quite sharp, too.

She looked up to find the little town of Resembool. She sighed with exhaustion and walked on. Then a small gryphon, made of metal, flew down onto her shoulder. It looked at her in a worried way. "Are you sure about this, Kiru?" it squawked nervously.

Kiru sighed, and replied, "Yea, I'm sure about this, Glacier... Once a month, remember?"

Glacier, worried as she was, turned her head to the road and replied, "Yea…" Kiru smiled as they arrived at the Rockbell's house. Kiru walked up to the door and knocked slightly. A dog started to bark inside.

"Quiet down, Den! Don't bark at our guests!" a familiar, old voice sounded from behind the door. The door opened, and a short, old grandmother stepped outside.

"Hello, Pinako," Kiru greeted happily.

"Welcome back, Kiru," replied Pinako, inviting Kiru in. She accepted the offer and walked into the building.

"I'm here for the monthly checkup…as promised." Kiru muttered. She sat on the couch casually. Glacier, still perched on her shoulder, gazed around the house.

"Kiru…" Glacier pondered, "Don't you want to go see Ed and Al? I heard they got their bodies back." The gryphon smiled at the thought of the brothers. They were the sisters' inspirations. Kiru smiled, too.

"Yea, but let's give grandma some time to adjust my arm," Kiru said as she looked at Glacier. Glacier narrowed her lifeless eyes and flew into a different room. Kiru sighed. Glacier was unpredictable. She could be happy one moment, and then mad at another. Since grandma knew what Kiru was, she decided to let the two strands of hair upwards. They weren't strands of hair - they were cat ears. Then, Pinako walked in and approached her left arm. Kiru knew what to do, and took off her gloves and her sweater. Her left arm was automail, custom-made to match her deformed right hand by Winry Rockbell.

The adjustment was a silent one. Pinako worked in silence, and Kiru didn't really want to talk about what they've been up to - the Elric brothers have already gone through it, so Pinako should know what has been happening. About an hour later, when the adjustments had been made, Kiru walked into the room where Glacier fled to. Glacier looked at her.

"Come on, Glacier. Let's go see them," Kiru commanded. Glacier hopped onto Kiru's shoulder and they headed upstairs.
