First in a series of poems I'm writing from FFX character's POV.

We Were Great /By Saffire Raynius\
(Tidus- Final Fantasy X)
I was once a star player
The perfect image, fragile
Yet strong
Swimming through loud waters,
scream of the crowd
rushing in our ears
We were great.
But fame isn't everything
As your kind face taught me;
Our fathers were famous,
And we both had much to live up to.
You kept dancing,
breath of the wind
rushing in our ears
We were great.
And so we went on
Proving in the end that
We were great
Forever and ten years of peace,
at the cost of so many lives
but saving so many more
We were great.
Your last words were so true
Out of heart, not desperation.
You are free to live.
You will no longer dance,
so instead my breath
will softly touch your ear
saying
You are great.
