SUMMARY: 07 movieverse. For one little girl, it was the night she saw the Tooth fairy.

Title: Once Upon a Time

Tranquility, Nevada Year 2007

The little girl lay on her side, eyes half closed. Mom and Dad had put her to bed early even though she wasn't sleepy. She could still hear their voices outside her bedroom as well as the distant rumbling outside. It might be raining again tonight.

Then lightning flashed through her window. She quickly sat up and put one hand under her pillow. It was a tiny front tooth. She could still remember when she asked the smiling dentist for it. As always when she lost a tooth, she would put it under her pillow, believing the tooth fairy would come for it.

But the tooth fairy simply came and went. Every time she put a tooth under her pillow, it vanished. Unfortunately, there was not a single penny left under the pillow.

Did the tooth fairy really come? The little girl asked herself once. Or did I lose my tooth somewhere? As if to reassure herself, she had searched everywhere in her bedroom and under the covers to find the missing tooth. So far her belief had not failed her.

Tonight was different. She could feel it in the air somehow. Her parents and other grown-ups would not understand. But to a little girl with active imagination, it was simply all about believing. And she believed that something magical just happened.

Something had landed in their yard. Like a big shooting star. Her young mind immediately clicked. It was either a fairy or an angel.

Tucking her favorite pink My Little Pony under one arm, she quietly slipped out of her bedroom. She clutched her tooth tightly in a fist as she made her way towards the backyard exit. The sliding doors leading to the walkway into the yard had not been locked.

The little girl knew that something was in the pool. She could see it now. The swimming pool was giving off steam like a cup of hot water.

Any other kid would have been scared and not dare go out. But for this little girl, it was her sense of wonder and curiosity that prompted her to seek whatever it was.

And if it was some kind of fairy or angel, she'd be sure to tell her or him about herself. Her Mom and Dad. How much would she give a little girl for five teeth.

Then she stopped and stared. A pair of huge metallic hands grasped the side of the pool and before long, the little girl found herself looking up in wonder at the giant creature.

Whatever the creature was, it did not frighten her in the least. The creature was strange looking, making loud clanking noises as he walked. It stepped over her without even bothering to look down at her.

"Excuse me, are you the tooth fairy?"

She heard nothing. Surely, any good magical creature would stop to talk to her, right?

Then came the sound of running footsteps and her parents' familiar voices.

"Hey sweetheart, what are you doing here all by yourself?"

As she caught sight of her dad, he suddenly exclaimed, "Oh my # what happened to the pool?

Mom was right behind him and the little girl was soon enveloped in a brief hug.

Her dad stood looking down at the pool in amazement. Then he shook his head.

"Oh geez, will you look at this, Mary? I think we should call Rick here tomorrow. Somebody's gotta get that hunk of rock out and clean the pool,"

"It was the tooth fairy, Mom," she blurted out. "She came from the sky," This caused her parents to stare at her. Their expressions changed to familiar smiles.

But this she still believed as she was simply being led away back to her bedroom later-

Fairies do exist.
