The cold wind howled in the distance. The dead brown grass didn't move as the wind howled by. Dead leaves of the trees rustled and then fell from them as the wind blew by. The wind picked up several dead blossoms that were planted by the small house. Even when the world came back to being right, there still were some things that never changed…
The house was in total disrepair. The roof had many cracks and holes. The door was off the hinges. The windows looked as if someone threw rocks through them and the owner never bothered to repair them. The paint was pealing off the side of the house, and some of the boards were coming undone. Overall, the house looked like the place of the dead.
Celes Chere knelt by a small bed, her blonde hair cascading over her shoulders. Her blue eyes were shut and her head bowed, her hands clasped in front of her, as if she was praying to the Goddesses themselves.
She was, in reality, praying for the lost soul on the bed. This man, who lost to the battle of illness, which seemed like so long ago, but was perhaps only a few months ago. She never got a chance to say goodbye to him.
She felt a hand rest on her shoulder suddenly. She knew who was waiting for her. He told her he would wait for her and would come with her to say her final goodbye to him. She told him that the man who passed away would want him there.
She opened her eyes and stood up. She looked down at the man in the bed. She brushed her fingers over his face. She gently closed his eyes.
"Granddad, I'm sorry I didn't come back sooner. But with everything going on, I just couldn't find the time. I'm here now…
"We finally did it. Kefka is no more. But magic is gone. Edgar is helping other towns rebuild, especially the ones that relied on magic, like Relm's town.
"Terra is doing fine. She is taking care of the children of Moblez. I'm happy for her. She has found her peace in the world and understands what love is.
"I found someone Granddad. He's with me now. You remember him, don't you? We love each other. We plan on getting married in the spring of next year. I hope you will watch over us in our new life.
"Granddad, I'm so sorry you had to die… I miss you so much. I wish you could be there at the wedding. You've been more like a father to me than anyone I knew in the Imperial Empire." A tear washed out of the corner in her eye. She wiped it away with her finger.
"Granddad, I came to say goodbye for the last time. I am happy now. I am no longer a puppet. I am free to live my own life now and I can live it in true happiness. I pray you are happy too."
She let out huge sigh of relief. She embraced her love. He hugged her tight to him and stroked her head.
"Thank you for coming with me, Locke."
He smiled at her and took her hand. They left the house as it is, and approached the Falcon. They didn't notice that in a tiny corner of the dead garden, a tiny yellow flower started to grow…
