The Boddy Mansion was never fun, not to Kate White that's for sure. She had nothing to do except read the book that her mother gave to her when she was a baby. Kate had a strange life and strange parents. She was never educated until the age of 10, she disliked every piece of food except carrots, and she wore the same clothes everyday. Her parents, Wadsworth and Mrs. White, have not spoken to her until she could talk herself. One day, there was a meeting for all the guests who came 14 years ago. (This is 1968)
"Guess what, Kate, you're going to meet a new friend,' Mrs. White said.
"Great! I hope this person treats me with respect," Kate said boringly.
"I know she will. Her name is Sheryl. Her parents told she was very fun. However I think she's very lovely."
Sheryl Scarlett had the best life. She had rich parents, she was well - educated, and she had 9 siblings (her mother's expecting 1 of them). But she did have a snotty attitude.
"Daddy, are we there yet!"
"Not yet sweetheart. We still have to pass that hill over there." Her father was Professor Plum. He was now the manager of the U.N.O and the W.H.O. They were top companies and Sheryl liked that.
Her mother Miss Scarlett said, "Sheryl, I talked with the people and they said they have a girl your age you can play with."
"I am too old to play games, Mother. Besides I'd rather count my money than play ring-around-the-rosie all day."
"She talks professional," her father said. Then Sheryl saw a huge but scary looking house and she pointed it out.
"Is that it Daddy?"
"Yep. That ends our road trip."
"Finally. I can rest my child I'm expecting," said her mother.
"Father, I can't wait any longer," Kate said.
Wadsworth turned around to find Kate in his presence. "They'll be here soon. I just have to set a few more things up." Then they all heard a knock on the door.
"I'll get it," said Mrs. White. She went to open the door and she found three wealthy people standing at the door with their animal fur coats on and leather gloves. "Come in. We've been expecting you." She looked down at the girl who looked like her mother. "You must be Sheryl."
"That's me," she said.
"KATE, YOUR LITTLE FRIEND'S HERE!" Kate rushed to greet the new girl at her house. She stared at the girl and she knew they had different personalities. Kate was wearing an apron and a black dress down to her knees. Sheryl was wearing a green sequin dress with a leather purse.
"Hello, my name is Kate."
